| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2009 THOUGHTS: I’ve mostly shied away from Oktoberfest beer, because the first couple I had I dislike, but that was back when I drank beer ice cold. I’m realizing now that I like them and will hopefully try more Oktoberfest beers than pumpkin ales this season.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium, slightly reddish amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate dark bread, nuts, molasses and caramel; light hops; and maple syrup. The initial flavor was sweet and a bit acidic; while the finish was sweet and light to moderately bitter with a fairly short duration. There was caramel malt, dark bread, a little pumpernickel, a little citrus, a bit of nuttiness, maple syrup, a little marmalade and toast, and a little grassy hops. The medium body was a little syrupy and yet somewhat oily with rather fizzy carbonation and a slightly astringent finish with a metallic hint. DJMonarch (6630), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Malt aroma. Small white head. Copper coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a hint of dryness in a smooth malt finish. USCBeerMan (108), Columbia, South Carolina, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Had this beer several times this season, so had forgotten that I actually hadn’t gotten around to reviewing it...
A: Poured with a small head that dissipated quickly to a thin film. No real lacing to speak of. Body is an amber/brown color, and almost completely clear.
S: Nice aroma of sweetness and malt... smells like there may be some caramel in there.
T: Mostly sweet, as it pretty much starts out and extends this way... again, some caramel tones in there. Finishes with a very slight bitter taste. Basic, but overall pretty enjoyable.
M: Medium-bodied with an oily texture, and soft carbonation.
D: I’ve enjoyed this beer every time I’ve had it... it doesn’t knock you for a loop with originality, but it’s easy to drink and definitely a very solid beer. I’ll buy it again next fall if I get the chance. ricke (189), Malme, Sweden
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Amber color with a medium-sized off-white head that leaves some lacings.
The smell is of malts, fudge, lots of bready aromas, floral and leafy hop notes.
The taste is somewhat sweet with notes of bready malts, fudge, grains and floral hop notes. Some earthy hints as well. The finish is gently bitter with notes of grainy malts and leafy hops.
Moderate body, medium carbonation.
A decent beer. Quite tasty and easy to drink. Not the most interesting style, though.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 10, 2009 Nice deep golden copper with a steady stream of bubbles. The flavor is rich and smooth, lots of malt with enough bitterness to keep it from getting carried away. Caramel and biscuits, backed by sweetness and a touch of alcohol. Warming, but not to much. Palate hits it on the mark, perfect for this beer. The finish is crisp and clean. The only fault in this beer is that the aroma doesn’t keep up with the rest of the beer. One of my favorites!
