skoll (123), Traverse City, Michigan, USA Aug 29, 2009 from the tap ... an amber color with little head. A little too shy on the hops for me, but still very drinkable. On the verge of being sweet. This one grows on you as you drink it. Lightly carbonated and very malty. I would drink it again. not much aftertaste Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 29, 2009 Pours a lasting ring of off-white head and a ruby-copper body. Smells of caramel and biscuit. Flavor is the same. Good body. italianjohn (337), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 27, 2009 Clear dark amber pour roasted malt aroma caramal toffee and a roasted malt taste slight bitter hop bite at the end a solid taste nice malty beer but not overbearing drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. An alright interpretation, but I definitely like other American versions better. junon (210), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Aug 25, 2009 Nice! Colour is almost the same as the bottle. Aroma is kind of tight but there are is a creamy sweetness that comes through. Taste is of your caramel and a little bit of vanilla. Like the description says its sweet but not overly. Well balanced. Flavour is pretty solid all the way through. fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Aug 23, 2009 Pours light copper with a 3 finger foamy light beige head that has good retention. Aroma is sweet malt, toast, caramel, grainy notes a little nuttiness and a hint of mineral water. Flavor is caramel, light toast, tofee, white bread crust, biscuit, and some herbal notes. Finish is toasty, spicy and just a hint of herbal hops. Not bad stuff, but nothing to write home about. JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Aug 22, 2009 Had a few of these on a request of a friend. I’m more of a hops guy so this highly malted beer is a little different for my palate. In any case it did not disappoint. The aroma is nothing to write home about but the color, the lacing, and the overall flavor are very nice. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Aug 22, 2009 On tap - pours an amber color with a foamy tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and spice. Good malty flavor with some spice, biscuit caramel flavor that was well balanced and had a perfect amount of carbonation. This is one my favorite Sam Adams brews and one of my favorite Octoberfest brews. Very solid.
