JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Aug 22, 2009 Had a few of these on a request of a friend. I’m more of a hops guy so this highly malted beer is a little different for my palate. In any case it did not disappoint. The aroma is nothing to write home about but the color, the lacing, and the overall flavor are very nice. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Aug 22, 2009 On tap - pours an amber color with a foamy tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and spice. Good malty flavor with some spice, biscuit caramel flavor that was well balanced and had a perfect amount of carbonation. This is one my favorite Sam Adams brews and one of my favorite Octoberfest brews. Very solid. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clean and clear golden amber color. Decent head and lacing along the glass. It has a nice roasted malt aroma and flavor to it with a mixture of spices in the background. A tasty, easy-drinking Oktoberfest. dalepryor (172), Paducah, Kentucky, USA Aug 21, 2009 This happens to be my favorite octoberfest and also one of my favorites from SA. I’m big on malts so this one is great, it’s extremely drinkable and the maltiness of it is wonderful. This may not be typical of the standard but for my taste buds this is the one for me. Bamos (18), Florida, USA Aug 20, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a beautiful, clear copper, with a thin head. Malt and carmel aroma. Flavor is sweet malty, with a touch of spiciness. Good carbonation. A pleasant oktoberfest. mcjay (302), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Aug 19, 2009 Amber color with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malts with a hint of bread. Rich malty body with caramel and mixed malts along with a dash of hops, a nice balance and a mild dry finish. One of my favorite Octoberfest brews. Elwood (676), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Aug 18, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Nice amber color with a small, foamy, off-white head.
Aroma: Loads of malt. Caramel, biscuit, and treacle notes. Mmmmm!
Taste: Caramel, biscuit, lots of maltiness, and a very slight tart hop prescience. A whisper of a metallic note too.
Palate: Medium, smooth, almost creamy carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel. The malt really coats the tongue. Medium-short, malty finish.
Overall: This is one of my favorite beers. Yeah, it’s malty and sweet, but it let’s me know fall is on the way. A great easy drinking beer that isn’t overly complicated. Good from start to finish.
Rebuy: Every year as long as I can get it! aenimopiate (142), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA Aug 14, 2009 Yummy! I have been more and more impressed by Samuel Adams the more types I try. This one has a wonderful full-bodied aroma, a gorgeous copper color, no head, complex spicy flavor, and a great aftertaste. Give this puppy a whirl.
