Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Overall Impression: Always liked this one, really solid example of the style, always highly available in season, it’s hard to believe how many of my "stepping stone beers" are from Sam. I guess I owe Jim Koch a big thank you, so, "thanks Jim"

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a one finger beige head that has poor retention and leaves no lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, a little soy sauce, and toffee. Taste is very unbalanced: lots of earthiness, caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, and wheat bready malt. Acidic finish. Watery body and above average carbonation. If Sam Adams comes out with a beer worth talking about- please call me.

Color is a dark orange amber. Clear not cloudy. Smell is sweet with slight hints a maple, caramel, and malts. Taste is sweet also. Very carbonated. The flavours of caramel, and maple quite evident in each sip. An easy feel to this brew makes it one of the better beers to drink. This beer has always been one of my favorite brews. I like to hold onto a few after they have stopped brewing this beer and bring out a bottle or two in the spring. I really like the fall feel to this beer. The best flavoring for my pallet. A very nice smelling and tasting seasonal ale- one of my favorites from Sam Adams. Especially because it is available in Nationwide Arena.

An Oktoberfest with some extra malt. Smooth, easy to drink and refreshing. One of my favorites from Sam Adams.

From a 12oz and on tap. As others have said, it’s a decent Oktoberfest-style brew. A bit thin perhaps, but a nice seasonal that’s not overpoweringly flavoured.

Clear amber (bit pale) body, off-white creamy head. Bit awkward Aroma of caramel, fruit, grapes, wood. Somewhat barleywine-like-aroma. Lightly bitter, moderately sweet finish. Bit sticky and cloying flavour. Quite carbonated.
