Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

I’m a huge fan of Sam’s Lager and also their stronger specialty offerings. The multitudes of other beers they offer don’t excite me all that much This is one of those others.

2007 Release A- Clear copper amber hue with a moderate amount of white head that is mostly diminishing and some small lacing S- Nose is of sweet and toasty malts, breads, and some subtle citrus and pine hops that are less apparent as it warms T- Initial taste is of acidic/tart sweetness, transitions to earthy/organic tones, some dry bittering hops in the middle, and finishes with a watery, grassy, earthy flavor that lingers briefly M- Medium-light bodied with a very watery texture, adequate carbonation D- Very easy-to-drink Marzen style beer, the alcohol is almost in the session range and the alcohol is well-masked, however there is nothing about this beer that stands out and it has rather unimpressive flavorings and mouthfeel, there are better options out there in this genre

This is a very malty beer, quite strong. Very representative of the marzen style though.

Tap at the Old Pro in Palo Alto. Screw Germany - this American Octoberfest is better than most German examples of the style. Orangish amber pour with an off-white head. Good sweet malty aroma with slight bitterness. Flavor is a blend of malts, caramel, toffee, and some hops on the finish. A little watery and simple, typical of the style. Pretty enjoyable beer though. You da man, Sam. Way to stick it to those macro d-bags.

Bottle. Hazy reddish-amber with a medium beige head. Nice toasty aroma with some caramel, light fruitiness and some cookies. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, bread notes and some slightly herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

Nice color....decent malty aroma. Subtle hints of hops. Flavor is pretty solid...lots of malt (some caramel, toffee and hints of roasted coffee). Some hops present. Definitely a hearty brew, although its a little off the true style of an octoberfest/marzen.

This is without a doubt my favorite beer offering from SA. Whenever this is available I definitely go with this exclusively. I think the taste, color, and aroma are all home runs with this beer.

I’ve had this from a bottle and on tap and tap is needless to say MUCH better. Nice deep rust/orange color. Aroma full of malt with some hops. Very malty taste, sweetness, some hops. Definitely more malt then hops, but overall good balance. My favorite Marzen
