COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

By far the best American Oktoberfest I’ve had. The aroma is nice and uncomplicated, just lightly sweet malt. The appearance is typical for an Oktoberfest. The flavor is good, well-balanced with no more hops than necessary, although depending on how old the bottle is, the malt may not be at optimum sweetness. Nothing to write home about in the mouth-feel department. Overall, a tasty little brew.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2004 RERATE: Draft. Impressive deep orange color. Minimal head. Silky semi-sweet flavor. Decent bite on back of tongue. Not bad at all, and very little of the trademark Sam Adams BLOAT feeling! Very enjoyable in multiples as my incomprehensible voicemails to exgirlfriends and others can attest to.

Not a bad fest. I buy a case every fall.

Like many other have said, a nice malty uncomplicated brew. Easy to drink and priced right. I’ll have a couple while watching the Baltimore Ravens game.

Very nice flavour. Much more crisp than the Goose Island I had recently. The sweet malt flavours blend a very well with the sutle bitter hops present in the finish.

Draft. OK beer but overall boring and without much merit.

All in all, this was a pretty decent beer and probably my favorite Sam Adams offering to date. Crisp and refreshing with a substantial malt sweetness. Clean finish. I found this to be more pleasing than this year’s Goose Island offering.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2003 Another good beer from Sam. As with most of his brews, it is 'toned down' to please the masses. A little thinner in taste than most others. While it is a good Oktoberfest, it still pales with some of the others out there.

Very pretty and crystal-clear deep copper color---moderate head and latticed lace...Aroma is distinctly yeasty/tangy...Taste brings an odd sensation: It all seems to occur in the back reaches of the mouth...Slight sweet tones intermingle with soft tanginess and very light hops...It adds up to provide sufficient intensity of flavors, but doesn’t possess the most attractive balance...The hop contribution is weak, and the body feels thin, even for this relatively light-hearted style...This beer is on par with many others of this type, but there are numerous examples, readily available, that are more satisfying.

Beautiful dark copper color. Head went away quickly, but great taste. Very easy drinking. Will have again if I get the chance.
