Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of the Binny’s Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). A beer I’ve put off rating for awhile and finally decided to buy a bottle of. Pour is fairly nice, dark copper pour that is largely transparent with a decent tannish head that dissipates largely. Minor lacing adds to the appearance. Aromas are quite muted, mainly malt dominant, bready and biscuity with a touch of sweet toffee. Taste is dissappointing, largely blank of taste up front moving to a decent malty sweetness on the backend reminiscent of cookies and english biscuit treats. Rather tame, rather dissappointing. No real spice, no real malt attraction. Decent mouthfeel. Finish is it’s strong point (If it has one). Eh.

On tap. Pretty similar in palate to regular sam lager, but with some spices and such. Not so bad, but my pour was kinda watery. Would like to try in a bottle next time.

Not bad. Sam Adams has a few good ones that I admire, this brew has whispers of tart and bitterness throughout. It’s a solid crisp drink with a sharp orange color. Overall, this could be better but it’s the season, so drink up

Certainly becoming one of my favorite Sam’s. Medium amber pour, slight cloudiness. This Marzen has none of the added fall spice (ginger, clove, cinnamon, etc.) that seem very popular with American Okt’s. But that is okay, it stands on its own legs. Damp aroma, somewhat weak compared to the other aspects of the brew. Sweet, very smooth, exceptionally drinkable beer. Some almost...saltiness(?) to it. Bready.

Very nice Märzen. Rich and malty and Sweet. Tasted more alcoholic than listed. Tried at Jameson Pub in Gothemburg (along with the very nice Hamburger du Chef ;-)

A muted Oktoberfest with a watery texture. Major head for a style that does not usually have a lot. Not a bad attempt. The medium clear amber color. The flavors are just too watered down to compare to the better Oktoberfest style beers.

Nice amber hue with a decent head. Pleasing spicey aroma gives way to a wonderful blend of flavors that remind me of the fall. Slight toffee notes, finishes well.

Bottle, at my house. The only beer I buy by the case. Beautiful golden amber poured in a Sam Adams glass. A very enjoyable malty beer. A highlight of the season.
