Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Pours clear amber with an average off white head. Aroma is heavy malt with a touch of orange peel. Lots of toasted malt flavor with a bit of fruit and hop. Something unpleasant about the finish. Just ok.

Bottle.Deep orange-amber color, with huge off-white head, great lacing. Aroma is malt heavy as you would expect. Caramel, toffee, toasted grain, buttery nuts, and faint spicy hops character. Flavor much the same. Caramel and toffee up front. Toasted grain with some fruit through the middle, light spicy hop bitterness helps to balance out the flavor. Very clean, with full body and mouthfeel at the same time

Poured a light amber with a medium sized head that fades quickly. Taste has some carmel, but mostly spices. The best part of this is how drinkable it is. One of the best samuel adams.

Pours an amber color. Taste heavily of caramel and a little spice. Is a extremely drinkable beer but not the best Octoberfest. 12 oz. bottle

Draft @ Chilis in Fargo. Light amber in colour with medium carbonation. Malt dominant aromas with loads of caramel. Flavor wise, the caramel malts take centre stage again. There’s a bit of vague spicy hop character, but virtually no toasted malt notes. LIght bitterness and medium bodied. Tastes more like a caramelly amber ale to me. Drinkable enough, but lacking in some essential oktoberfest qualities.

Medium yellowish beige head doesn’t last. Deep red body with light carbonation. Syrupy fruity malty aroma with apple and caramel notes, a bit unbalanced. Dry-sweet roasty perfumy licorice taste, slightly artificial, with fruity earthy notes. Dry wild berry and malts aftertaste with hoppy notes. It’s not bad. (0.355l bottle, Systembolaget, Charlottenberg.)

This was my favorite Octoberfest I can remember. What stood out to me was the fact that it was well-balanced, which is rare with Octoberfest beers. Most are too malty, too sweet, or too sour for me. This one hit the spot well! I’m not a Sam Adams guy, but this one is one I enjoy!
