Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Pours a pretty copper color, fairly sweet aroma. The flavor is malty and rather one-dimensional. It starts out tasting ok, although a bit metallic; the finish however is quite soapy. Not a very good oktoberfest. Re-rating here: it’s a better beer in 2009. I didn’t like it very much in 2008, but I think they’ve got a better version going now.

On tap at TGIF!; pours an orange/amber color with off white head. Aroma was as expected caramel, bread and the essence of germany...I have to give credit to the Boston Beer Company on this; one of the better examples of the style. Solid on the palate with a good blend of caramel and bread, hints of fruit hops. Good sessionable beer.

Poured 12 oz. bottle into Pint glass. Color was a deep amber; finger of head that rapidly dissipated. Aroma was very malty, as was the taste. I could sense some caramel notes, and there were just enough hops to finish without too much bitterness. Mouthfeel was good -- It had the right amount of carbonation. Overall a very good Oktoberfest type of beer.

The best Octoberfest beer I’ve tasted, even if it is mass produced. Pours an orange, light aroma, great on taste & on the palette. I would put Sam Adams Octoberfest against any microwbrew Oktoberfest out there.

Pours a clear orange amber with a small off-white foam. Boring aroma, sour grains and lightly toasted malt. Flavor is much the same, very light, a bit metallic, light toasted cereal and crystal malts. Medium/light body with lively carbonation. Very boring.

Pours a dark amber and burnt orange with medium head. Aroma of roasted malts and spice. Taste matches aroma with maltness coming throught with a perfectly balanced spice. Sam Adams did a good job on this one.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug. Appearance: It has a dark amber color with good clarity. The head is light tan in color, creamy and about average in size. It has good retention as it slowly fades to light covering that hangs on until the last sip. Smell: The aroma is full of all the sweet caramel-like malt that you would expect along with some decent mineral/herbal hops. Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor has solid, sweet and bready malt with caramel notes and hints of apple-like fruitiness. Hop flavor comes in and adds a good spicy and herbal presence to the middle and finish. It finishes slowly and has a slick texture with good carbonation and a medium to full body. Notes: Football, Halloween candy, and sucking down some Sam Adams Octoberfest with my father, these are a few of my favorite things.

Good solid beer, kinda what you’d expect from sam adams. Had a very sam specific taste, must be the yeast. Bst beer at outback steakhouse!
