Pours a reddish orange color. Smells malty and slightly spicey. Tastes very malty and sweet. arventresca (334), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle. Reddish orange in color. Smell of malts. When they say a malt lovers dream, they don’t lie. A truely malty beer that is smooth and sweet. Nice Marzen. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Reddish color with a medium head. Very malty aroma with some caramel. Grainy taste with fairly heavy fruity notes (apple, citrus). Medium bodied. Ljunkan (380), Karlstad, Sweden Sep 26, 2008 Pours an amber color with a small mediumsized white head, which dies after a while.
The aroma is of malt, caramel with notes of citrusy hops. Pretty good.
The taste is quite sweet with notes of malt, caramel and citrusy hops. Quite nice.
The palate is very average, a bit thin, with not that much carbonation.
It’s an highly drinkable beer, though not that exciting. Pershing (146), Garland, Texas, USA Sep 26, 2008 Clear amber with a small head the diminishes. Sweet malty aroma and taste. Sweeter than most Marzens. explosivebeer (36), Washington, USA Sep 26, 2008 Probably my favorite of the Sam Adams line. This beer has a light, clear brownish-amber color with little head. The aroma is all malt, mostly caramel. The body has a load of malty goodness, again caramel, and a small but significant underlying bitterness to balance. It is easy to drink and generally enjoyable.
