Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Draft. Amber pour with an off white head. Very clean malt profile with caramel and toast, and just enough hops to be noticeable. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. Yellow/Orange. Aroma malty but not in a good way. Tastes like a regular cheap pale lager. Disappointing.

Orange color with solid head. Nose is sweet grains and brown sugar. Flaovr is crisp and a bit sweet with some toffee flavors. Not a ton of depth, but an okay Marzen.

Not sure where the festival was. Certainly not in this brew, though I do not fault it. It’s still an ok brew on it’s own. Samuel Adams has really come around these past seven years from a ok brewery gone anomic, and now back to offering some decent American brews. This one has orange written all over it. Flavor is malty with light grains and sweet with a little brown sugar. I can sense areas of entry for slight chocolate notes, though nothing close to Germanic. Rides out a little unbalanced and that is somewhat upsetting. The regular Sam Adams Boston Lager I had after this for kicks. Lots of bread notes in the regular ALe that I would have loved to have seen in this one.

Nice almost orange color ,good lacing, malty flavor, a bit sweet. But the 2nd 12 tasted a little less, and the third twelve (hehe not all in one sitting) , may have gotten warm, I would drink it again

Extreme maltiness in reference to a number of other marzens I’ve sampled. Very dark pour as well. The malt is thick and heavy here. It is a decent balance from being dragged into downtown Malt City thanks to the hops. Decent drink but not one I’ll rush out to enjoy more.

Beautiful deep amber color, definite caramel notes. My favorite tailgate beer.

2008 version: pours a deep amber color with a sweet malt aroma. Palate just a touch on the thick side. Sweet malt taste with some caramel notes in the aftertaste. Some spiciness also becomes evident as it warms. Like most of their products, a solid but not spectacular version of the variety.
