Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2008 Pours out a rich copper color with frothy white head that fades quickly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is of sweet malt, caramel, some toasted grain and light floral hops. Taste is sweet caramel, fruit, light brown sugar and malt. Mild carbonation and easy drinking, this is worth picking up. Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 10, 2008 This was enjoyed at a Navy v Air Force in 2007. It was so popular from the keg it was consumed before the end of the game. Only the light beer was left for the Mids. This beer was enjoyed in 2008 at home. The color is a clear light amber. Nice head at pouring but quickly disappears. The fullness of the malt flavors with some sweetness is well balanced with hops at the finish. This is one of my favorites from Sam Adams. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 9, 2008 (Bottle). Slightly ripe-fruity aroma. Reddish amber color, off-white head. Nice tasting beer, semi-sweet with some hops and caramel malt. Good finish. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 9, 2008 I do enjoy this every year, especially since it often carries a sale price. Not as big as alot of other ofests, but this is just a basic traditional version of a real good style. I dont know if i could do it year round, but for a month or two this is pretty good. Not flowery at all, which can ruin the experiance. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Sep 8, 2008 Was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Aroma was a little on the weak side, but filled with sweet malts. Poured a wonderful nice light amber color with a nice light tan head supported by bubbles of carbonation. Palate is a little thin with some carbonation in the beginning. Smooth beer with a sweet malty flavor with hints of toffee. Very slight sweet bitterness sits on the tongue afterward. Ottscay (7), Mason, Michigan, USA does not count Sep 8, 2008 Bottle. Poured a great looking, bright copper color. Head was smallish with an off-white color which quickly dissipated. The taste was a mixture of a toasted, caramel, toffee mix. It finishes with an almost creamy texture. A really nice tasting beer. Not too "odd", and not too plain -- very drinkable. Really good stuff. brew4fun (167), West Virginia, USA Sep 8, 2008 Draft. Commercial description nails it. Rich yet easy drinkability. Big soft foamy head releasing wonderful aromas of malt and hops is intoxicating all by itself. Sweet caramel with a toffee finish, perfect hop bitterness throughout. BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2008 Updated: Oct 9, 2008Malty aroma...maybe a little tobacco smell. Dark amber with medium head. Spicy caramel flavor...a little bitter. Not bad on the palate...a little aftertaste but its not bad. It’s a decent beer in my opinion...I don’t think I’m a big fan of the style. Not one of my favorite Sam Adams...but maybe it’s growing on me because the first time I had it I hated it...now that my tastebuds have matured its pretty good.
