Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Lots of caramel flavors come from this malty brew. Smooth to drink, think of a toffee flavored Bass perhaps. Not bad, better than the their lager, but nothing special.

Pours translucent caramel color with a fast dissipating light tan head. As expected malts dominate the aroma, with some toffee. Flavor is mostly caramel malt with a hint of the toffee and hops. Not a bad start to the Oktoberfest season, but there are certainly others I look forward to.

A beer I like forward to every fall. Nice amber brown color that is more drinkable than most in this category.

Had on tap at an Applesbees. Pours a dark amber, no head. Malty taste. Its easy to drink, but theres something about it that’s trying too hard, its not simple enough. Enjoyable, but not my favorite

Pours a orangish brown in color with no head. Smell is very malty. Lots of caramel in the flavor. Toned down on a lot of the spices that usually are drawbacks for most Octoberfests that I’ve had. This is a caramelly, malty, easy drinking beer. Very enjoyable and drinkable.

Having tried all of the Sam Adams mainline flavors, I can easily say this is my favorite. I’ve always viewed Sam Adams as a gateway company - their beers aren’t the best exemplifications of the styles they represent, but they’re good enough for the low to mid-range price and amazing for those weening off the Bud Milloors. Their Octoberfest is no exception. What makes this beer better than their others is mostly personal preference. I’m a big fan of Octoberfests, but this isn’t exactly indicative of the style. This isn’t to say it isn’t good - it is. It’s got a great autumn color and a pleasant nose. Expect the same body as most Sam Adams. The taste has a mellow balance between caramel and the soft noble hops. And it finishes crisp. If you like Octoberfest beers or are a fan of any of the Sam Adams line, this is worth a try.

Sam Adams brews great beers across the board, and this is no exception... clear copper/amber color, a very good tasting dark lager, good stuff! Cheers!
