vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Oct 6, 2009 Draft. Red brown pour with enough white head, umm felt taken advantage of how much beer disappeared by the time i got the glass. Sam makes another non stand out beer, malt and bitterness flavors. iamqueensblvd (178), , Iowa, USA Oct 6, 2009 dark amber pour with a nice frothy off white head. slight citrus notes on the nose. Spice with a hint of caramel and a lingering sweetness are prevalent on both the initial taste as well as the palate. beautiful mouth feel. Not bad...not great...but not bad. matthewjk (43), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 4, 2009 Very clean tasting Marzen. It’s true, nice color with a frothy head that clings to the glass. Good seasonal offering, but far from great. BeerLoveNewbie (2), Florida, USA does not count Oct 4, 2009 This is one of the first beers I tried that helped me to step out of my previous box! This beer is what I hold as a standard for Octoberfest brews. The amber/copper color, the malt, the slight bitterness all makes for a nice balance. Smooth enough to have several. An excellent representation of an Octoberfest beer. RasterMaster (120), , Oklahoma, USA Oct 4, 2009 Copper to amber pour into a thin off white head that quickly dissipates into a ring of melting lacing and a pool of foam in the center as carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass. Malty aroma with hints of pumpkin, spice and sweet citrus or orange peel. Initial flavor of malted caramel and sweet toffee fading into a balanced sweet malty and slightly hoppy bitter buttery finish. twistedviews (67), California, USA Oct 4, 2009 probably one of my favorite october or fall seasonal beers. its a little bitter from the hops but it overall has a really good taste... pete4999 (121), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 4, 2009 On tap at Papa Jake’s in Buffalo. Not very bad. Comparable to Great Lakes Oktoberfest, even though it’s not quite as good. Flavorful with the caramel and slightly hoppy as well. A good example of the style, IMO. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 4, 2009 A dark amber beer with a thick light moka head. A rather mineral aroma, with light notes of herbs and butterscotch. In mouth, a rather nutty malt with too much butterscotch, a bit ouily, some signs of oxidation. Overall, boring. On tap at Sam Adams Brewhouse Newark Airport, Sept. 22 2009.
