Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Decent Oktoberfest by Sam Adams. Medium body, malty and sweet with nice balanced finish.

Another from my collection of old notes. Poured from a bottle. Poured medium brown color with a slight white head. Spices and hints of caramel in the aroma. Flavor is similar, with some hops peaking through in the finish. Not bad, my friend buys this a lot and doesn’t mind sharing, so I don’t mind drinking.

Red/brown, small head. Aroma is of toasted malt, with some vague spiciness. Typical Marzen, nothing special. Nice color, amber, with a white head. Flavor is toasted malts, bread dough. Wierd finish, noble hops, with a sour milk quality. Medium mouthfeel. Decent, if not great. Decent session beer for this time of year.

12 oz. bottle. Poured rich golden amber with fluffy off white head which left little lacing as it dissipated. Light spicy aroma. Flavor of crisp light malt slightly tinged with toffee overtones. Thin bodied with mild hoppy finish. A very drinkable beer, but I had hoped for a bit more body and taste.

Medium orange-brown with a thin white head. A light aroma of malt and some spice. Flavor brings nothing unexpected, with more caramel malt. Light mouthfeel, drinkable but there are plenty other oktoberfest’s I’d rather have.

Draught. It’s Sam Adams, but some spice that I can’t seem to put my finger on gives it an unpleasant aftertaste. Not my first choice.

draft- toffee, caramel malt, sweet taste. Somewhat crisp, but, hop presence is muted. Not all that enjoyable or unique, but drinkable. re-rate- draft at bills game- nice caramel flavor and a malt complexity I did not perceive originally- very enjoyable.

Not bad. Sam makes better beers, like their Summer and spring beers, but this one is drinkable. Not a lot of complexity, just a nice beer.
