pet3rman (206), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 28, 2007 Decent Oktoberfest by Sam Adams. Medium body, malty and sweet with nice balanced finish. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 27, 2007 Another from my collection of old notes. Poured from a bottle. Poured medium brown color with a slight white head. Spices and hints of caramel in the aroma. Flavor is similar, with some hops peaking through in the finish. Not bad, my friend buys this a lot and doesn’t mind sharing, so I don’t mind drinking. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 27, 2007 Updated: Sep 1, 2009Red/brown, small head. Aroma is of toasted malt, with some vague spiciness. Typical Marzen, nothing special. Nice color, amber, with a white head. Flavor is toasted malts, bread dough. Wierd finish, noble hops, with a sour milk quality. Medium mouthfeel. Decent, if not great. Decent session beer for this time of year.
blindeyedbetty (148), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 27, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Poured rich golden amber with fluffy off white head which left little lacing as it dissipated. Light spicy aroma. Flavor of crisp light malt slightly tinged with toffee overtones. Thin bodied with mild hoppy finish. A very drinkable beer, but I had hoped for a bit more body and taste. jonnabrix (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 27, 2007 Medium orange-brown with a thin white head. A light aroma of malt and some spice. Flavor brings nothing unexpected, with more caramel malt. Light mouthfeel, drinkable but there are plenty other oktoberfest’s I’d rather have. NPRugby11 (82), New York, USA Oct 23, 2007 Draught. It’s Sam Adams, but some spice that I can’t seem to put my finger on gives it an unpleasant aftertaste. Not my first choice. hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Oct 22, 2007 Updated: Oct 20, 2008draft- toffee, caramel malt, sweet taste. Somewhat crisp, but, hop presence is muted. Not all that enjoyable or unique, but drinkable. re-rate- draft at bills game- nice caramel flavor and a malt complexity I did not perceive originally- very enjoyable. a10555 (123), West Chester, Ohio, USA Oct 22, 2007 Not bad. Sam makes better beers, like their Summer and spring beers, but this one is drinkable. Not a lot of complexity, just a nice beer.
