CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Sep 22, 2009 Deep orange almost amber color with a nice big head, this is a very attractive looking beer. Aroma is a little bit swimming pool like, but below that is some nuttiness and some good malty sweetness. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, some tostiness, and some odd stuff I can’t quite place. This is basically non offensive, and generally enjoyable. Not the greatest Oktoberfest, and not the greatest offering from Sam Adams, but it comes on like an autumnal tradition and I can’t help but indulging in a few of these each year. ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Sep 22, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a tulip. Pour was golden amber with 2 fingers of thick white head. Nose was malt and a bit of spice. Taste was the same, not as sweet as I was expecting though. It’s not a bad beer at all, but pretty generic in all respects. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear medium amber with a thick 2 finger light tan head that results in spotty lacing. The nose is caramel, toffee and light citrus. The taste is caramel malt, fruit and light citrus zest. Medium bodied. OK beer. tennessejed420 (69), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 22, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep golden mahagony / amber with a nice off white head which sticks around. Smells of malts, caramel, sweet but earthy. Taste of of a malt blend, caramel. Nicely balanced for a nice bitterness. This is one of my favorite sam adams, and I think their best seasonal. chrisok (77), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Sep 22, 2009 Amber color with orange highlights. Thick dense off-white head. Small bubbles rising from bottom and sides of the glass. Head lasts a long time. Smells of malt, with a touch of hops. Sweet taste, a ton of malt and not too much else. Aftertaste somewhat malty. guerinfbfan (32), Elmwood Park, Illinois, USA Sep 20, 2009 Poured a nice amber/orange color with a small white head. You get a bit of caramel off the nose. This being my first Octoberfest, I didn’t know what really to expect. Not bad for the first one. Good brew from Sam Adams. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Sep 19, 2009 On tap at Old chicago Downtown Denver poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of toasted malt, fruittiness and light carmel. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of toasted malt, fruittiness and light carmel with a crisp malty finish. jmulv (82), Rensselaer, New York, USA Sep 19, 2009 Oh fall, what a season. Leaves changing color, football back on TV, octoberfests back on the shelves. As far as octoberfests go, Sam Adams makes a fairly decent one. Smooth, pretty tasty, almost makes up for the end of summer.
