Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Not at all a bad beer. This is an attractive looking, amber colored beer. The aroma is pleasant with a slight maltiness and fruity notes. The initial flavor is moderately bitter and finishes lightly acidic and bitter.

On tap at the Trappe Tavern. Pours a translucent copper/amber with no head. Aroma of lemon, malty grains, some caramel. Flavor of cereal, lemon, malts. toasty, hints of nuts. Very clean and crisp lager.

Top rating for this. Great flowery hops, full of flavour. A great beer! Autumnal colour underline the taste. Vanilla and pepper, and a nice little sour twist at the end.

2004 version on tap @ Summits. Light brown creamy head with a lively mouthfeel. Nice hop bitterness and a smooth creamy finish. Body is light and thin. Has a bit of roastiness and nuttiness to add flavor, overall not bad at all.

Bottle. Poured a medium sized ivory head that was mostly lasting, minimal lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a ruby hue. Malt, caramel and hops aroma and ditto for the flavor. Smooth palate. Just so-so IMO.

Had this on tap while at the Tage Inn in Boston. Deep copper with a small tan head. Nose has light hops and definite malt character. Some very light spice as well. Taste expanded on this - light hops that were noticeable but not dominant, definite spiced malt that was uncomplex but pleasant. Finished with some hop and malt sweetness. Not bad!

Rerate - Found this to be a bit more cloying the second time around - guess my palate has wisened up. Slightly artifical taste and aroma and sticky mouthfeel. Original 3.8 Deep, dark orange color, slight spicy aroma. Full bodied malty flavor with a strong finish. One of S.A's better brews in my opinion. Glad I bought a whole six.

Draught. Clear copper color without any head. Caramel aroma and flavor with spicy hop undertones. Very nice octoberfest beer.
