Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Pretty weak, seemed watered down, didnt notice any caramel taste as others have said. Weak beer.

Not bad for the style. Actually somewhat enjoyable, pretty clean in the mouthfeel, with some rich bready caramel malt and just a bit of spice detectable.

2008 Bottle - Pours dk orange with a medium off-white head, aroma is all malt, chocolate and caramel-y, flavour is very malt forward but not as much as I expected given the nose...very light hops on the finish, but slightly metallic...decent except for that final note...

On tap. Nice burnt orange brew with a nice 1/2 inch cream colored head. Nicely balanced between the malt and hops, although it does lean a bit toward caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Nice and heavy...not at all watered down.

Bottle. First of all, I think it’s lame that they misspell Oktobefest, but whatever. Beer is deepish copper/red. Quite sweet with minimal hop flavor. Pretty mediocre in my book, nice mouthfeel though. Meh.

The aroma is of toasted malt. The color is amber and the head is an off white. Initially there is a toasty malty sweetness and finishes with a moderatly dry hopped bitterness. The body is medium.

pours a nice copper with a good size tan head. smell - roasted malt, caramel, nuts taste - tangy on the tip of the tongue, nutty, malt, a little bit of hops, leaves the mouth nice and thick. nice brew.

Crushed with Jakebra. Interesting. Sexy looking beer for sure. Malty, kinda roasty. Not much in the finish but it’s still not bad. Might be the best Octoberfest I’ve tasted thus far, but I’ve got a long way to go.
