COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2013 Serving: from tap at Cedar River Smokehouse. Aroma: light hops. Appearance: average-sized, frothy, off-white, initial head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, dark-orange body. Taste: moderately sweet and soapy initial flavor and finish with average duration. Palate: medium body with watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall: too sweet.

It has a dark amber color with good clarity. The head is light tan in color, creamy and about average in size. It has good retention as it slowly fades to light covering that hangs on until the last sip. The aroma is full of all the sweet caramel-like malt that you would expect along with some decent mineral/herbal hops. Its flavor has solid, sweet and bready malt with caramel notes and hints of apple-like fruitiness. Hop flavor comes in and adds a good spicy and herbal presence to the middle and finish. It finishes slowly and has a slick texture with good carbonation and a medium to full body. This is just one of the best parts of the Fall.

Liquid pumpkin pie! It looks and smells like it only unlike pumpkin pie you shouldn’t drive or operate heavy machinery after consuming these. Cloves, ginger, cinnamon and anise spices tickle the sniffer along with herbal and floral hops, caramel nuts and browned-toast malts. A nice crisp carbonation with a slightly greasy (in a good way) feel help this gourd-flavoured guzzler go down smoove.

Bottle. Better than I expected it would be. I actually bought the six pack several times, even though the outrageous price. Has a pretty amber pour, which does feel pretty October like. It tastes of roasted malts, caramel, toffee, and some sweet pumpkin pies spices. Has a medium body with a oily mouth feel. Finishes off with some bitter toffee. I would buy it again if it pops up for the season.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber colour with a long lasting, medium sized, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with fruit and caramel. Flavour has sweet notes of malt, caramel, fruit and a slight hoppy, bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation.

Of the Sam Adams seasonals, this one has a special place for me. Truly one of the first Oktoberfest style beers I really came to enjoy, and look forward to it every year. Pours a nice dark amber color with off-white head. Caramel malt, bread, roasted malt, and toffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice toasted character.

Bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, fruchtig, süß, Karamell, genauso ist auch der Geschmack.

Very nice looks, super stable small bubbly head over a glowing amber, light clear body. Dry malt aroma, Vienna biscuit, English and with very little yeast or hop influence. Bit more interest and bitterness in the taste, drinking quite dry towards the very end. I enjoy the cleanliness of the lager style with the Vienna type malts. The aroma is a bit too simple for me though. (Bottle from Saveur Bière)

bottle. Amber with small head. Pretty straightforward marzen. Not going to blow anyone away with flavor, but solidly average.
