The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Bottle. Poured a nice dark brown. Well balanced sweet/malty flavor. There’s so many marzens out there these days. this is one of the more solid, drinkable ones.

Bottle. Clean burnt amber with large khaki head. Intermittent lacing. Mild aroma of roasted malt and their corresponding caramel notes. Faint earthy/tea notes. Medium body. Semi-sweet marzen notes. No distinguishing qualities. A fairly safe take on the style. Ok.

One of my favorite beers. I look forward to its release every year. Poured deep red into a pint glass. Rich caramel notes and taste. Should have a higher rating. My favorite marzen

Caramel, some toffee, and subtle grassy hops on the nose. Clear burnt orange-amber with a somewhat lasting off-white head. Off-dry, malt forward, bready. Medium bodied.

Pours a beautiful harvest amber color with a decent head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is pleasant, lots of malty sweetness, some bread and caramel and maybe cereal as well. Taste isn’t huge but is very to the style, notes of caramel, malt, and bread. Good beer, one of my first favorites from all those years ago

A nice solid offering from Sam Adams. A light sweet nose, amber pour. Slight fizzy head. Nice mouthfeel. Malty and nutty with just a hint of hops at the end. Quite pleasant.

Transfer from BA review on 10-2-12- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – Served a copper-orange color with a brew with a thick two finger off white head. The head slowly over time to leave a very nice level of lacing. Smell – The smell is heaviest of roasted malt with a good dose of caramel sweetness. Mixed with this is a light earthy and herbal aroma as well. Taste – The flavor begins of a biscuit flavor with a good presence of a roasted malt. There is a lighter sweetness of caramel and some brown sugar up front. As the taste advances the sweetness fades and some flavors of a slightly bitter earthy flavor and some nice spicy flavors come to the tongue. Toward the end of the flavor, the roastiness intensifies and when mixed with the rest of the flavors, leaves a roasty and spiced flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower than average side. The thicker body was quite nice for the roasty and spicy flavors, although a little bit more carbonation would have made it a bit more refreshing. Overall - Smooth with some nice roast and malt. While not the very the best Oktoberfest in my opinion, it is quite nice. A good go to for more session style drinking.

Darker finish. Large head. Autumn type aftertaste. Good tasting beer. Would drink again.
