3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle. Pours a transparent, copper/auburn with a half-finger, off-white head that thins to a film fast.
Aroma is large with big notes of caramel, bread, hallertauer hops, and a touch of raisins, dark fruits, sweet potato, and spices.
Taste is malty but balanced. A touch of caramel on the finish.
Low-medium body and carbonation. Fairly clean in the mouth with a refreshing finish makes this very drinkable.
Overall tasty and just what I’d expect from an Octoberfest beer. Probably would buy again next fall.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz obttle. Clear amber pour. Not a whole lot nose-wise, a bit of caramel, a bit of burnt toffee; Pleasant malty backbone, with muted sweetness, but something a little astringent at the end. Good for an autumn’s evening.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
On draft this pours dark copper and smells like over-cooked toffee. The palate is round and unstructured. I couldn’t finish a pint. Overall, this Octoberfest has put me off of Marzens until next year.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Malt slaps face like a candied whip, sounds like pumpkins breaking, the vines crackling under the wheels of a fat tired bicycle. Bronze like shit that’s really old but well taken care of because people keep coming back to what works. Tour guide on the label. Sweetness gets my teeth nervous, but maybe that’s just my pH. Putting it in a sauce of cabbage, roast chicken, ginger and garlic, with some sort of fancy white american cheese, and a piece of roll bread, a chicken and cabbage cheese steak. Heavy, for the fest goer who only wants to have one and not necessarily need to shit but still feel like shitting if it becomes an accommodating option. This one sort of battles it out, long and hard, with blunt instruments and high pitched shrieks, resulting in a drunk like a Ren Fest professional, mostly balanced but teetering under so much fermentation a rugby player might puke. I hope the dog that licks up that puke appreciates this fine brew, which even in that state surely tastes pretty good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark amber/copper color with a powerful thick cloud of activity. Creamy beige 2 finger head that last around 15 minutes, with some very good leggings. Flavors of ginger bread, caramel, pumpkins, sweet roasted grains, ginger, cinnamon, lemon, apple, noble spices. Pleasant sweetness coupled with good sharpness. Slick smooth full body with prickly carbonation. A little oily and syrupy. Light finish that lingers a little, ending with a faint grassy and roasted malty feel with soft fruity sharpness. Overall excellent quality craft. Delicious and super fresh. Balanced flavors with a nice intensity. Filling yet tender, pleasing and easy to drink.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Signal Variety. Appearance is clear amber with trace sparkle, quickly fading negligible bubbly head with no lacing. Aroma is strong caramel malts, toast, light nuttiness and fruit. Taste is bread, light caramel. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and dry, biscuity finish. Overall, beautiful color and aroma has some complexity but the rest of the beer doesn’t live up to it. Middle of the road.
