COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

A beautiful amber beer that changes to a broader shade of yellow from top to bottom in the glass. It begins with a 2inch white head bur quickly vanishes. Malty aroma. Flavor is leafy, malty, and mild. Draws down clear. Slightly nutty finish. Word.

Draft. 16 oz. Honestly I am not that impressed with this offering from S.A. I had it on three occasions so far this season, and either time it was because there wasn’t much else I would want. This beer is my first Octobefest since drinking "real" beers (or real good beers...), and I think I want to try out some different offerings. I am not to impressed. It poured a nice golden amber orange color with a thick foamy white head. Aroma was sort of funky with a bit of spice? Taste was awkward, leaving me slightly uncomfortable (even still, I order it again, nevertheless). It reminded me of a different kind of beer, something I don’t like, but can’t put a finger on. Overall, pretty blah. I hope that other Octoberfest beers I try will be better.

Pours nice orange color with thin white head. Pleasant aroma with slight hoppiness. Taste is slightly sweet (hint of coffee & caramel) but not overpowering. Leaves a clean aftertaste. Excellent autumn brew. Impressed!

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2012 Poured a clear dark golden liquid with a medium sized slightly dirty brown foam that left some lacing. It hada smell of bread, caramell and metall. It tasted of caramell, bread, malt, burned toast and something sweet, sugar for instance. It was smooth and easy to drink but also a bit watery. Decent lager. Edit: Re-rated in 2012 increased score by 0,6

Smells like a typical domestic beer, pours to a copper orange body, light body beer that is slight carbonated with a hint of caramel

Pours dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is a lot of cereal and caramel, not much else. Like the Boston lager, but without the hops. Not terrible, but not a great marzen.

Flaske 0,355l delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun på farge. Et luftig skum som forsvant ganske fort. Svakt karamellaktig aroma. Smaken er sammensatt: Litt (brent) karamell, frukt - syrlig. Svakt krydret ettersmak. KI=0

Bottle. Amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, fruits and toffee. Quite sweet flavor with a light bitter finish. An ok beer but nothing sensational, little on the thin side.

Pours a rich amber color, forms a decent white head which dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is faintly of caramel. I was surprised by how tasty this was, nice caramel flavor, very sweet, and very malty. Smooth mouth feel, very easy drinking. Wish this was a year round offering.

355 ml bottle. 5.3%. From Malmö, Sweden.
Slightly hazy amber colour with small white head. Caramel malty aroma with some roasty notes and spices. Flavour is also highly caramel malty. Some notes of butter and spices too. Also some hops in aftertaste. Not very original or memorable Märzen.
