The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Different, but fair. Dark amber with a thin beige head. I know corn is not an ingredient, but it is present in aroma and taste. Roasted barley, very little yeast, and a dry, slightly hoppy finish.

Nice copper color but largish bubbles in the head and (overly?) dramatic carbonation on first sip. The taste is musty: complex but not altogether pleasant. Decent, but not one of Sam’s better brews.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2012 Bottle: Pours a clear orange with a thin white head, rich malts in the aroma, starts and ends lightly sweet, medium bodied with ample carbonation.

(BB 1/03) Stale from the High Falls pasteurizer. Sweet and funky to the max.

Not bad, but I was expecting a little better. There is a sweet corn syrup taste that is fairly noticable. Very malty, but not overly hoppy like Boston Lager. It also reminds me of H.C. Berger’s Bombay Express (though not as good as it once was) back before it became non-carbonated piss water.

what a weird aroma! i can’t even begin to describe it, but it isn’t exactly appetizing. the deep russett color was nice, fluffy head which diminished fairly quickly. flavor-almost an apple taste in there. not hoppy which is ok with me. definitely drinkable. first octoberfest i’ve tried this year.

Well this smells great and has a pretty copper color. Good start. The taste is very sweet and finishes the same, a tad off though. As we venture further to the bottom it begins to get a little swilly and the taste swampy. Not as bad as it sounds though. I dont think I could do a 6 pack of this. Finishes watery, kind of like iced tea.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2003 Bottled. Dark amber with a beautiful head. Hoppy aroma with hints of peanuts in it. Way too thin and watery. Only some bitterness in the flavour.

12 oz bottle, lager mug, best before 01/04, 52 degrees. True to form gigantic, creamy, frothy, off-white head is decently lasting. The body is a clear red-orange with lively carbonation. Caramel, nutt malt (mod); flowery hops (light); toffee and medicinal aromas. Moderately sweet throughout with a lightly bitter finish. Typical S. Adams metallic sourness. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: one of the more drinkable Sam Adams brews.

Draft. Brownish orange, decent lacing head. Malty fruity nose and flavor, a bit nutty with a slightly sour finish. Kind of thin, not interesting enough to have another.
