COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

A Sim rate (on tap at airport bar/seafood restaurant): Really not much in the aroma. Because I’m in a fish restaurant it smells of shrimp. The only bar in the whole terminal smells like freakin’ shrimp! Nice! Slight metallic malt. Appearance is golden amber with decent head & lace. Taste is too too malty. Metal. Rice. Grain. Really not great. It’s doing the job, I guess. Better than shrimp. Worse than beer.

Just thought I’d try this one. Pours orange, copper with a smallish head. Aroma is malty sweet. Taste of malt sweetness that’s a little bit cloying since there’s very little bitterness in the background. Medium to heavy body that’s nice. Not for me, but malt fans would enjoy this one a lot.

Bought this one in a variety pack. I have had this on tap as well. Both were pretty good.

Poured from the bottle into my trusty Samuel Adams glass. The pour produced a yellow-orange body topped by a head of white foam. I think I kept the beer at a lower temperature then called for, as the head was minimal, almost non-existent. I have to move on to the flavor, as the aroma is not asserting itself at all , which is has some notes of sweetness to complement the hops. The palate a bit on the thin side and lends a slightly metallic cast to the experience. The aftertaste is a metallic caramel. This isn’t a bad beer, and I think the temperature might have had to do something with the experience, though I’m not sure. I’ve allowed this beer to warm slightly, and have yet to coax a decent nose...

An okay Octoberfest, not very complex.

Has a great color, and a good aroma but the aftertaste ruins it for me leaves to much of a bitter taste for me.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2014 Gave this a try again and it was just a big buttery diacytle bomb. So gross. Not my favorite beer from Sam Adams. I have been disappointed with the majority of their "mainstream" beers.

Bottle. Orangish amber with an off-white head. Modest aroma of caramel, grass, light spices. Sweet with caramel and toast, some nuts and slightly spicy bitterness. A little metallic. Balance is OK but the sweetness is bland.
