Commercial Description:
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover's dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews.

Smooth, dark, slightly sweet, malty. For me, it can start to feel too heavy in the mouth after a couple. Still, it's a great one for sipping on cool fall evenings. Aroma of earth and grass. Not bad at all.

12oz bottle - Pours dark copper with a fair white head. Aroma is of carmel hops and flavor of sweet caramel malts, a touch of toffee and a bit of vanilla. Palate is medium bodied. Smooth, creamy, and robust. Not bad for the style. A very fine brew.

First impression is this is close, but missing something. Beautiful appearance with a glowing orange-red color and creamy, rocky head. Nice sweet toffee and caramel, as they advertise. On the verge of having that sharp metallic sweetness I get from toffee sometimes, but manages to hold it off. I theorized that the metallic flavor I get in Sam Adams ales is from their yeast, but the near appearance in this lager makes me wonder if hop selection isn’t a cause as well. However, the crisp hop flavor seems to actually balance the malt and that twangy sweetness. Refreshing to have a nice clean lager, but it somehow seems empty to me with such a malty beer. Almost felt at first like a bit of flavor was washing out and disappearing early, but i think that’s just the lager talking. Actually a very complex beer. I get cinnamon and gingerbread, as well as a fruitiness akin to strawberry and perhaps a bit of cherry. Palate is full, slightly slick and lightly carbonated. Not perfect, but very good. I don’t even go crazy for the style, but I’m glad I picked this up.

Copper color, medium off-white head which fades quickly. Claims to be malty but I found it well-balanced. Nutty caramel flavor. Not bad...for a lager

Comes out of the bottle a coppery clear amber with a decent off-white, slightly orange head. Aroma is malty with hints of hops and spice. Flavor is firmly malty and has touches of hops and toffee and even a nutty hint. Texture is fairly smooth and rather fizzy and lively. A good beer for the season.

bottle - pleasant, malty aroma, medium head with light lacing. The taste is all about the malts, but not overpowering. This beer is nicely balanced, another solid brew from Sam Adams.

I absolutely love this beer. Deep amber pour. Tastes lightly of carmel. Well balanced. Aroma reminded me of apples. Just tastes great.
