carruthm (434), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2008 Has the color of the traditional marzens and the caramel and spice aroma, flavor more of malt though.
pandashaver (4), , Alabama, USA does not count Oct 12, 2008 Moderate aroma of malt, carmel, and candy corn over breadiness.
Poured a deep, transparent orange/brown...very festive. Head is fizzy, not large, little lacing, and not lingering.
Dominant malty sweetness in the flavor, with only a very lighty bitter hop flavor.
A light syrup character on the palate that sticks around for a little bit.
Definitely a great complement to some good grub. ajolly2 (121), USA Oct 12, 2008 I’m a novice to the Octoberfest style, but this one seems to be a good example. Pours amber with a copper tinge; fairly complex in the mouth; nice balance of malts with some fruity sweetness; could be a little less clean in the mouthfeel and aftertaste. Overall it’s very good for the price, and I’ll probably buy a 6-pack of it since it’s autumn anyway. joeymacaroni (141), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 11, 2008 pours deep amber-copper with a thick, quickly dissipating off-white head. not much lacing. aromas of caramel apple, malt, toffee. flavor is kinda thin, with malt, toffee and caramel being the only thing i taste. aftertaste is malty and i’m not too crazy about the taste it leaves. too malty, not enough balance. not my kind of oktoberfest. Bhops (221), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 11, 2008 I’m just not an octoberfest fan, but this was a decent representative of the style.. pours dark amber, mostly sweet malts... not much hoppiness. toddkrem (73), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 11, 2008 Dark auburn color with lots of head. Sweet beer with some taste of spice. Aftertaste is similar to a Budweiser. I would rather drink Boston Lager any day, but i prefer more hoppiness.
