COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2004 Bottle pours a nice cherry color with a tanish/sudsy head. Large aroma of dates, raisins & nutmeginnamon (nutmeg & cinnamon). Initial taste is of a cherry cough drop. While the aroma was nice, the overall flavor was somewhat simple. Its as if too much was thrown in there and it didnt add up. Finish is no different from the beginning, uneventful. Prior years have been better.

this beer looked great. as far as a spiced beer goes....... well, i'm not a fan. lots of complex spice characteristics that i don't care for. too much fruit and cinnamon and nutmeg for me...!

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2004 Dark Brown Color with medium head. Aroma is sweet and full of different smells. Flavor is malty and sweet. Full of different tastes. Amazingly complicated taste compared to normal beers, yet does have weak and too sweat of an aftertaste. Still a good pick up, though i have only seen it in Holiday Winter Variety packs.

Dark with a nice head. Big malty aroma. Flavor starts off with lots of chocolaty and carmel malts. Reminiscent of Celebrator at first, then some subtle spices of cinnamon and cardamom kick in and detract from the malty goodness. Finish is sweet and malty with a little lingering cinnamon. A very nice beer.

Better than most brews from Sam Adams. Nice spice to it without being over done. Medium malt flavor. Could use a bit more alcohol as this is a beer you would only drink on cald days anyway.

Great balance of spice, hop and malt. I like this beer, but somehow can only bring myself to drink one or two every season. Oh well, I guess that's why they call it a seasonal...

Maybe I'm not the connoisseur I should be yet, but... It was roasted, malty, a bit cinnamony (a word?) but I lost the ginger and most of the orange. I prefer a bitter brew and this did not disappoint in that aspect. A good seasonal.

Had a nice aroma with a great mix of cinnamon and hop aroma. The cinnamon taste was a bit too much, however. The after taste lingered in a bad way. What a let down.

Pours a nice deep brownish red with a minimal head. Flavor is difficult to nail down but is quite interesting...in a "why don't we just throw all kinds of stuff in the kettle" kind of way. I don't detect the chocolate.

I for one enjoyed the winter pack! And Fezziwig Ale is another great chapter of it! Yum, I can taste the Fezziwig in my stomach, great taste, sweet to the T, actually a lower case t, but none the less a T indeed. Nice for sitting by the Christmas tree and taking in all the wonders life has to offer, and also all the confusion its can bring, may this year rot in a eternal, solemn and desolately confine grave, to which no one visits and to which no one brings flowers or bears gifts from the true heart and soul. However let the next year bring out the best of the nation, all its people, and all its love and why stop there, why not the world, yes sounds strange at first, but very, very feasible! Let us stop being so greedy and selfish and start to give and share in this the year of 2004! It can happen my brothers, it can and must happen!
