COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

One of my favorites. Great aroma, spicy flavor that isn’t over powering, and quite easy to drink.

Bottle in Holiday 12pk. Not bad, but not outstanding. A festive beer that smells of chocolate and cinnamon. The flavor is toasty like a Belgian style ale with chocolate and honey. A good addition to the 12 pk. but not something I would ever purchase aside from that.

Sam Adams 12 pack assortment. Poured into a pint glass. Frothy head, Dark. Carmel malt, very sweet. Slight carbonation. Some hops up front, but thats it.

A little flat, not much of a head. Nice nutty flavor and not too much spice. Fairly light on the hops for an ale. Overall OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thicker mouth feel than most Sam Adams beers. Has a slightly bitter note on the finish but overall has great flavors. A really good winter beer.

Not much nose or aroma but rich deep color in appearance, the taste is smooth caramel taste and rich roasted malts. Spices are also present but could not put a finger on what. Very hearty good beer.

A: Dark brown body with ruby red hues. Soapy off-white to khaki head that quickly dissipates to a ring. Minimal lacing. Beautiful color on it. S: Smells like a pretty standard winter warmer. Very malty. Chocolate with caramel and toffee in the background with spicy notes. Cinnamon is most prominent. Just a hint of orange rind. T: Very nice! Very well-balanced. I’m greeted with spices and orange peel followed by rich coffee and dark chocolate. Excellent tasting beer. I’m impressed with the sweet-spicy balance they achieve. M: Full-bodied and a little sticky on the finish. It’s a pretty big beer (not alcohol-wise necessarily--I think it’s about 6%--but the body is just noticeably thick, in my opinion a good thing). O: I really enjoy this beer--one of the best winter warmers I’ve had. I also really like the idea behind incorporating such a festive Dickens character :).

Nice, spicy brew. Has many malt characteristics of the Brown Ale it was birthed from. The spices are very pleasant and I cannot say they disagreed with me. I wouldn’t drink this brew everyday, but it is a good occasional sipper.
