COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

Dark Reddish Brown, Medium Head, Some Lacing. Medium Body, Sweet Caramel, Some Light Spice Aftertaste, Sweet Creamy Malt Finish. Decent Brew but not exactly what expected from Commercial Description. PR department might have gone a little overboard describing this one with "dancing and celebration BS". Thinner than described. Same goes for taste, it is not bursting your taste buds as sharp as they wish it describing their brew. Overall: Good.

A - Pours a deep amber clear brown with a 2 finger khaki head that retains excellent. Great spiderweb lacing. S - Spicy gingerbread, caramel malts, nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins, T - Caramel/toffee slightly toasted, some metal notes, butterscotch, citrus hides in the background, caramelized brown sugar coats the mouth, cinnamon and nutmeg are there but aren’t pronounced. M - Medium body, slick feel. A solid easy drinking winter warmer. Very good looking brew. Nothing spectacular flavor wise but goes down easy. Serving type: bottle 02-04-2011

I like this quite a bit more than the Winter beer and some of the other seasonal offerings. It’s got a little bite from the ginger and cinnamon that’s nicely balanced by the malt profile that gives way to toffee, caramel and some roasted chocolate notes. I look forward to this one each year.

Bottle poured a dark brown cola hue w/ a medium off-white and nice lacing. Better than moderate aromas of cinnamon, caramel, orange, toffee and spices. Initial flavor is moderate sweet with a faint bitter of short duration. Tastes are brown sugar, toffee, caramel, orange peel, cinnamon, ginger, cocoa, and vanilla. Medium bodied and mild carbonation.

Pours a dark brown copper color with a medium off white head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of cinnamon, caramel, orange, toffee a few other spices. Tastes of all the same things in the smell with a slight cookie flavor. Mouthfeel is oily and chewy with medium carbonation. Overall this is a really tasty winter seasonal, it has a lot of flavors integrated in it and is very complex. Really enjoyed it and wish it was available longer.

Dark brown, small beige head. Aromas of spice and dark stone fruit. Flavors of light anise contribute to a slightly bitter finish. Overall it's a little thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours a light brown or dark amber. strong aromas of chocolate and spice. lots of caramel, sugar and light molasses in the taste. body is very light considering the style. finish is quite mild with only hints of burnt toffee and hops. an easy-drinking winter beer.

Appearance: Really dark brown unless held up to light ... in which case it looks ruby black. Tiny head, and patchy lacing at the start. Smell: As it’s in the bottle, it’s difficult to get much out of it. Has a very faint malt aroma, and maybe a touch of the ginger that’s described on the labgel. Taste/feel: The most important and best part of Old Fezziwig. My first sip had a bit of sour/tartness that I assume comes from a combination of the orange and ginger, but then the finish was a huge amount of malts. As usual with beers, the first sip was the best. As I sipped along, I found myself enjoying the beer just as much. It’s an easy drinking beer with an awesome label, and that helps it out a tad as well. Old Fezziwig almost drinks like a meal with its fantastic creamy, foamy feel. All-in-all, this Winter Classics pack has turned out to be a winner... and this beer is just super "feel good."

Bottle to snifter. Garnet colored pour with a thin cream colored head. Smells like fruitcake. Taste is similar but with more burnt sugar. The spices are a little muted behind the roastiness of the malts and good amount of bittering hops. Not as spice as I expected...and better than I expected.
