crizay (1056), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Mar 6, 2008 Copper pour, medium white head. Aroma is pale malt and some hops. Flavor is pale malt, some bready notes, stale lifeless hops that give bitterness and nothing more. This is pale malt and stale hops, what else did you expect.
ThaBobfather (43), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 11, 2008 Sam’s Pale Ale is a good blend of hops and the Jim Koch famous malt flavor. It smells like spring and pours a deep gold. Solid flavor that leaves me with the right amount of hop flavor. Mac_An_Ultaigh (34), Tampa, Florida, USA May 10, 2008 12oz bottle: Looks good in the glass, dark yellow with a foamy head and laces like seafoam all the way. I have to agree with most here when it comes to the aroma, there really isn’t much to speak of. What aroma there is, oddly enough, is less hoppy than the Sam Adams Boston Lager. There is a rush of sweetness and some slight bitterness on the sides of the tongue but that completely disappears in a hurry. Watery mouthfeel and literally no finish. dalepryor (33), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA May 8, 2008 smells faint of hops, very faint. pours a golden orange and not much of a strong flavor and the head lasts for a minute or less. This one is kind of bland for me, I would not recommend this over their other styles. scottw86 (83), New York, USA May 7, 2008 Poured a clear yellow with a small white head. Aromas of interesting malts, some bananas. The malts gave this one an interesting flavor as well, which was followed by a slightly hoppy aftertaste. Not bad. dlihcsnatas (13), Texas, USA May 6, 2008 The hops hit the nose right after poping the top. Pours a nice clear gold and the aroma continues to hit the nose. This is very much like any IPA but then I love English Hops so this one really hit the spot for me. The Fuggles had to be only used in bittering because the aroma and flavor of Kent Goldings really comes out. I can’t wait to open another bottle and another and another.
