This distinctive and refreshing American ale is brewed in the classic style, with traditional brewing, the finest English ale hops, and lightly roasted specialty malts. Hand-selected Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops impart a crisp dry finish to this flavorful authentic ale. Jim Koch

What is with this beer? When I poured it, I immediately thought there was a skunk in the house. Horrible aroma. Really turned me off before I even took a sip. There was pletiful head and lace in the glass...as well as some suspended bubbles or ’something’ in the beer...still not sure what that was. It had a golden, cloudy (by the bubbles or whatever) color. I was however surprised when I took a taste...it really wasn’t that bad. I mean, after that smell, I expected it to be foul and rank...but it was a bit flavorful with a very bitter taste, and even more bitter aftertaste. This beer ’pales’ in comparison to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. As someone else mentioned, I think I must have gotten a bad or old batch. The label on the bottle was torn and it was the last one. Who knows? Oh well...Mr. Adams...This was the first disappointment from your company. I guess you’re allowed one ’off’ beer. Just don’t let it happen again.

Foam is somewhat tenuous. The aroma is a fine blend of malt, fruit, hops and nuts. It has a light fruit and nutty palate which together with a small hint of malt sweetness quickly taken over by a pleasant mellow hop bitterness. Can remind a lot about a good English ESB, but has the slightly more complex American and no pressing fullness of hops. It has a very dry finish, and long-lasting aftertaste.

a little thin, very average pale ale. there are better offerings out there, but it’s worth drinking...it just does nothing to separate itself from a large pack."

bottle. Golden with small head. Mild body with pretty weak English hops. I’m not particularly impressed. A bit below average.

Modest head that dies to nearly no bubbles. Initially light lace, then none. Dark gold color with a touch of green; slight haze. Pleasant floral hop aroma; Closer to the British style in the malt flavor. Slightly tart and quite dry. The hop finish is brief and not very pronounced. Good body with a high carbonation level.

A-yellow, clear, head has sudsy white head that disappears quickly A-bready malt, and faint grassy hop aroma T-light malt, again bread and grass is the most I can really get out of this. P-thin,crisp body. I keep double checking bottle for lager O-A great introduction beer, never revisit after that, very blah.

Bottle. Pours gold with a small white head. Malt and toasted grain aroma with a touch of fruit and florals. Caramel and light grain flavor with a touch of fruity and floral hops. Dry and only slightly bitter finish. Flavor mostly dominated by the malts.

Sam Adams Pale Ale is probably one of their more bitter beers but it still has that delicious full body taste and smooth texture that Sam Adams is know for. I should mention that even though it does have that bitter taste, the bitterness still doesn’t compare to that of say Stone’s IPA. I would call this a good bar beer to have 1 or 2 of.
