Decent substitute for a Bass pale ale. Not as hoppy, but I think that's kind of a nice change. A good ale.

Sampled at Nerax:
This beer poured a deep orange brown leaving a surprisingly large head from the cask. The aroma is very sweet, candied fruit, mild hops, grass, and a wonderful bouquet of flowers. The taste is similiar to the nose, very malty upfront, delicious sweetness balanced with a mild grassy, citrus hop background but malt dominate.
Note: Similiar to the Harpoon Dark, this SA-Pale Ale on cask surprised me and could very well be the surprise/best beer of the night IMO.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2005 This distinctive and refreshing American ale is brewed in the classic style, with traditional brewing, the finest English ale hops, and lightly roasted specialty malts. Hand-selected Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops impart a crisp dry finish to this flavorful authentic ale.

Amber color, with some head, leaves some pretty good lacing. Aroma is hoppy and floral with some malty tones. Flavor is pretty good with similar characteristics to the aroma. Finish is mostly hops. A very good dry beer. There are better Pale Ales out there, but this is a very good one.

Average English styled Pale Ale. Boston,Spring and Double Bock are better beers.
