Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called “radler.” The name radler translates to “cyclist,” A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy). Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

Sips out of the bottle. Basically lemon and beer. Sort of like a shady made with overly sweet concentrated lemonade. I see where they’re going with this, but you’d be better off sticking with their summer ale and squeezing some more lemon into it. Or a hefe with lemon.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. A pretty typical radler, lemonade and lager, relatively medium sweetness. Not awful.

Aroma is really light. Nice clarity but no head. Taste is very clean and it is easy on the palate. Nice summer beer.

Bottle. Smells like lemon, crisp, sweetness. Tastes like lemon and lavender. Light body and medium carbonation. Dry and sparkling feel. Interesting and not too bad.

Poured into a glass. Appearance--Clear honey lemon, golden color, almost no head. Aroma--tons of lemon, actually quite pleasant to me but hardly complex. Taste--big hit of lemon with a lot of sweetness and a little tartness, finish is straight malt with heavy bready notes. I don’t really see any harmony between the two tastes, but they don’t really clash either. It’s a decent summer-y lemonade beer. Wish it had more complexity to it. A bit more tartness would have helped.

pours clear gold with white head. Aroma of lemon juice, lemon peel, some grain, almost a urine smell. Medium bodied. Flavor is lemon juice with malts on the finish. Slightly tart. Not one I enjoyed.

12 ounce bottle from Sampler, evokes a Radler well, though not quite as effervescent. Good for a hot day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

1/10 aroma. Smells like rancid lemonade. Pours clearn orange with almost no head and little visible carbonation. Tastes fairly strongly of lemon, with some hints of lager.

Bottle. Light to moderate grain and straw for the malt, lightly to moderate grass for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, with lots of lemon/lime in the background. Head is large, fizzy/frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear light yellow. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is lightly to medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation. This Fruit Beer is not something I’d reach for but it’s light and super refreshing.

Pours a bright gold with a HUGE head (almost overflowed out of the glass). Some citrus flavor, but nicely modulated so that it doesn’t overpower the beer. Smells weird, though - kind of like lemon pledge.
