COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called “radler.” The name radler translates to “cyclist,” A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy). Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

(bottle) straw colored with white head. Faint citrus aroma. Flavor was light sweet malt, some faint lemon. Refreshing after mowing the lawn.

Bottle:   Bright straw, fairly clear, lively carbonation, moderate foamy white head, little lacing.   Somewhat of a lemon/lime like aroma.   Very much like 7-up on the tongue, albeit not as bright and sugary.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Spritzy lemony finish.   Decent, but seems to me to be more in common with a wine cooler than a beer.

Pours a clear straw color with a fizzy white head that fades quickly and leaves light to no lacing. Smells of sweet malt, honey and lemons. Tastes the same as it smells with a slight hop flavor in the back end. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Overall this is a good refreshing summer style lemonade beer hybrid.

The best "shandy" style beer on the market by far. Fresh lemonade and malts on the nose. Tastes like legit lemonade with beer not beer "with natural lemon flavor added." I was really impressed. I know a lot of beer snobs like to hate on fruit beers but this was an impressive brew that was very refreshing and well made. Don’t be a snob and step outside the urge to hate on fruit beer and you’ll see for yourself. This beer was delicious.

Wittales (716) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 2, 2012
Appearance was clear pale straw with creamy diminishing white tiny 1/2 finger head, no lacing. Aromas was citrusy lemonade and hops, hints of sweet helles malt. Taste are lemonade with citrusy orangish zest, then mild sweet helles malt backbone. Palate was crispy smooth CO2 with light-meduim body, then zesty lemony average length finish. Best Shandy this year(2010)...

Fock a radler. Straw yellow with a mammoth dissipating white head. Sweet and skunky aroma of lemon and grains. Taste is meh with lemon and sugar and comes across as a sweet and tart mix. Way too over carbonated but made for bonus entertainment as I watched it drain in the sink.

This is summer in a bottle. It’s exactly what it says it is - a beer with natural lemon added. Unlike another mass produced shandy that will go unnamed in this post, the lemon tastes authentic and not forced into the beer. For what this is supposed to be, it’s excellent. Don’t over analyze it, just sit back and enjoy it.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a crystal clear, light yellow-hued body with a medium-small, brief, white head.

Smell: Sweaty lemons mingled with the modest, mild, effusive maltiness. It smells lemony, what else do you want me to tell you?

Taste: Particular mild maltiness with a sliver of sweetness. Hint of lemony flavoring that, with the thin mouthfeel, fizzy carbonation starts to feel kind of soda pop like. A touch of Sprite, a hint of Squirt and it’s gone.

Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Fizzy and a tad watery.

Overall: One of those it is what it is beers.

12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, lighter gold colored body with a finger-width, fizzy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is sweet lemons, a light honey grain, and a touch of florals. Flavor is similar. Sweet lemons with a hint of tartness, a few florals, and a light honey breadiness. Finishes clean and mostly dry with no real bitterness. Short aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, simple and refreshing without offending. Not that bad, I guess.
