COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called “radler.” The name radler translates to “cyclist,” A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy). Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

Draft. Nose of citrus. Perfect clarity. Minimal head. Pretty tasty. A subtle sweetness lasts into the finish. Ok. Perfect when you’re thirsty but frank too much the day before.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 12/2015. Pours crystal clear golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness and balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very nice Radler style! All around nice robustness and balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. This had a really nice presence of the Helles beer, vs other Radlers I’ve had in the past. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle, best before November 2016, drunk 7/23/16, compliments of TJ.
Thin, white head quickly recedes to a ring atop a clear, light golden-hay colored body.
Lemonade and light grain with some pepper and floral notes don’t smell particularly off-putting or fake, those there’s a touch of raw sugar, which I guess is the lemonade. But it’s not soapy or anything like that.
In the mouth, it’s sweeter than it should be, with raw sugar and honey-like maltiness, light floral and spice notes and a lot of lemonade. The lemonade tastes like lemonade, at least, not soap and corn syrup and artificial notes. Fizzy carbonation, watery (as it should be) but just way too sweet. Clean, for the most part, with no alcohol.

Can. Pours mostly clear yellow gold with no head. Nose and taste is mostly lemonade and maybe a little ginger. Okay.

Aroma of fake lemon candy, flavor of cheap beer mixed with fake lemon candy. This is a beer for people who don’t like beer.

Bottle. Clear yellow gold with a white head. Aroma is lemony as is the flavor, but more like artificial flavori.g then lemon zest.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2016 Clear gold little head. Hint of corn aroma. Lemon flavor, a bit soda like and lemon doesn’t come off as lemonade well. Not to my liking.

Delicious and refreshing. Light and doesn’t leave an aftertaste. Will continue to enjoy as long as Sam Adams brews it

Six pack picked up at my local grocery, enjoyed right out of the bottle. Light and crisp body, light lemon juice, mostly sweet, it’s like lemonade with light grains and mild booze.

A Radlerthat seems like it just sort of misses the mark. It’s tart and sweet, but other than that there’s nothing that really stands out. Tastes like a beer with a lot of lemon flavor added to it. Meh.

Clear Golden, Large Head, Lots of Thin Lacing. Faint Citrus Aroma. Starts Out Slightly Sweet Finishes Lemon Sour. Sweetness and Lemon overshadows all of Beer Qualities. While I like Shandies, Radlers Taste a little different, and I’m not a real fan. Might Be OK for what it is but I’ll pass it Next time...
