COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rebel IPA is brewed with 5 varieties of West coast hops: cascade, simcoe, centennial, chinook, & amarillo. Itís everything we love about West coast style IPAís. Big citrus & grapefruit flavors with subtle pine notes for a flavorful refreshing brew.

Bottle (355 ml) bought @ La Barik. Best before March 2016, so I guess this is 1 month old now. Itís kind of weird to have a BB date 1 year after the bottling considering itís an IPA.

Appearance: Clear golden-orange with a medium easy to revive white head and some lacing.

Aroma: Not the burst of aromatic hops you expect from a "West Coast IPA" (itís advertised as such), but an enjoyable aroma nonetheless with delicate citrusy hops, caramel, earthy/mineral notes and mild leafy hops presence.

Taste: Slightly sweet with grapefruits, moderate caramel presence, light toasted notes, resinous presence, mineral/earthy notes and moderate bitterness.

Palate: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Moderately dry. Moderately lasting grapefruits and resinous aftertaste.

Overall: If you expect a massive hop bomb (which wouldnít be crazy since the beer is advertised as a West Coast IPA) you will be extremely disappointed but this is a super easy drinking and well balanced IPA. The malts are quite present, but never makes the beer heavy. I liked it.

Mild hop presence, plenty of sweet citrusy juice flavor. The nose matches this as well. Itís the kind of ipa you would give to your friend who is not into IPAs. Which is fine. Iíd get it again if I needed to trim some dollars from my beer budget.

12 onz bottle from local IGA grocery A: light citrusy, light piny, light toasty/roasty malt app: clear light copper minimal white head t/p: med body with long bitter finish. Finishes crisp. O: average. Aroma are way to shy. A commercial IPA that Iím afraid, I wonít buy again.

DATE TASTED: April 5, 2015... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... OCCASION: second beer rating of Easter--another IPA... APPEARANCE: fresh, thick and foamy white head sits top a rather translucent body; head settles uniformly, leaving an attractive, even lacing... AROMA: grapefruit, yes--and the Simcoe provides unique flexing of hop muscle; the five hops work in unison to create an alluring swirl of pine and citrus smells... PALATE: a palpable, reasonable IPA with appropriate medium body and resinous aftertaste; thick and lively... TASTE: a smooth, mellow mix of hops mesh well with bready malts that suggest a metallic presence; still maintains the East Coast malt base that makes Sam Adams a bit different in the pale ale space...OVERALL: the floral/citric intensity makes this beer a treat; each sip provides a crunch, a bouquet, a blast of competing hops unlike any previous Sam Adams offering...

Slightly dark golden pour, fairly substantial white head, above average carbonation, light to medium body. Biscuity, pilsner taste across the middle with a bitter, hoppy finish. Tastes more like a hopped up Pils to me, but still quite good. Not getting much pine or floral taste to speak of, but still a very good macro IPA for me. Nothing special, but not objectionable either. Iíve definitely had worse.

On tap. Pours an amber colour and mostly clear. Aroma of citrus and pine cones with a bit of resin in there. Fairly good hops and clean taste with a hint of caramel but dry. Very good.

This is a West Coast STYLE IPA, says it right on the bottle. Being from SoCal iíve had my share of some crazy strong and bitter IPAís and love them. This one from Sam Adams is exactly how they describe it. Good color, nice aroma, a little more malt flavor than other IPAís with a slight bittier Hop finish. I like it. I say good job Boston Beer Co.! Cheers

12oz bottle bought at systembolaget. Average IPA. Quite light for an West coast IPA, but enjoyable.

Pours clears deep gold. Head is meh...probably a dirty glass at TGIFridays. Aroma is grapefruit and citrus with mild pine. Taste is same with a malty backbone. Pretty light and drinkable but being touted as a West Coast IPA it is pretty weak.

For a beer billed as west coast IPA its pretty malt heavy. Aroma is decent but hops are meh and bitterness is mild. This is at best a gateway IPA.
