Rebel IPA is brewed with 5 varieties of West coast hops: cascade, simcoe, centennial, chinook, & amarillo. Itís everything we love about West coast style IPAís. Big citrus & grapefruit flavors with subtle pine notes for a flavorful refreshing brew.

Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits in Athens. Mix of citrus and pine in the nose. Clear amber/gold color, fine head. Caramel and grapefruit initial / hops come down nice and solid in mid / hopping comes to a fine head and then gently fades. Medium body. Tasty and well made. Overall, it is fairly balanced. Doesnít have the blast of a true West coast IPA.

Grapefruit/orange with subtle pine aroma, Clear amber color with a healthy head. Typical bitterness with style but seems to be little else. Somewhat clean finish. Nicely done. I liked it the more I drank.

Poured from 12 oz bottle, clear, copper gold with a medium white head. Interesting nose; sweet, malty, like a sweet orange. Taste is somewhat balanced, leaning towards the bitter. Medium bodied with an abrupt finish. Pleasantly surprising for SA, its not too bad.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear medium gold with a one finger white head. Actually pretty decent head retention and lacing. I am pleasantly surprised. Aroma is very nice. Tons of tropical citrus along with just the slightest bit of pine. There is almost a minty-ness about it. Not much malt at all. The flavor provides a big shot of orange and grapefruit along with the mint that was present in the aroma. Also some earth but it is a bit muted. Bitterness is quite high and the flavor is still lacking the malt balance that I am looking for. Mouthfeel is fairly hefty but a bit on the sticky side. Overall, for a Sam Adams beer I am very impressed. This one exceeded expectations and is really a well-made IPA. Something I will definitely have to pick up again.

Best before June 2014.
Appearance: The body is crystal clear with and orange hue, a short white head accompanies it shortly, settling into a light coating with a creamy ring.
Aroma: The aroma is sort of dank like marijuana, but a sort of skunk presence as well. Hints of citrus are apparent as well, the malt base stays out of the way.
Taste: The malt base is a bit thin, but the hop presence is decent. Definitely got that unique Simcoe flavor with a dash of grapefruit giving a mild bitterness. The finish sort of lingers a moment and itís gone.
Palate: The body is a bit thin and slightly watery with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I really wanted to like this but the flavor is just lacking in many ways. This isnít a bad beer, but even at $9 I donít find myself wanting to recommend it.

Pours golden-yellow. Decent head, decent lacing. Grapefruit- flowery nose. Medium body with tastes of citrus, pine, light flowers but not bitter enough for a West Coast IPA. Finishes a little sweet but dries a little bitter. This is not bad but they should have used Nugget and Citra in place of the Cascade hops. Just a thought......

Bright gold appearance with an average size white head and good lacing. Resinous hop aroma dotted with barley. More hops dominate the flavor with just a bit of sweetness offset by the bitter aftertaste. A lot of attributes that I like in an IPA: Fairly well balanced but the hops win; widely available; reasonably priced: maybe not sessionable but still has an impact.

This is a run of the mill IPA. Iíd go as far as to say that itís middle of the road in Sam Adams own stable of beers. It is a decent introduction to a mild IPA if the genre is new to you.

Bottle from ABC Spring Hill. Pours a mostly clear yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is some light caramel, some citrus, white grapefruit, and herbal and earthy hops. Flavor is similar with some citrus up front and caramel in the back with mild to medium white grapefruit throughout. Medium in body with lingering white grapefruit in the finish.
