Rebel IPA is brewed with 5 varieties of West coast hops: cascade, simcoe, centennial, chinook, & amarillo. It’s everything we love about West coast style IPA’s. Big citrus & grapefruit flavors with subtle pine notes for a flavorful refreshing brew.

I had completely avoided buying this beer, I happened to be at a bar in which a sample was opened and I was offered a taste. I honestly think this is terrible. A sad attempt at a West Coast IPA. Totally out of balance, in the worst way possible. The smell is better than the taste. As my beer warmed, the smell turned to hops mixed with urine. I don’t know what the hell they did to this thing, but it isn’t good. The taste is hoppy with some malt, but it completely falls short. I tasted this against a Stone IPA, and guess what? Stone blew it away. Wow. Just a shit beer.

I had a couple of people tell me Rebel IPA was good IPA but I found it to be average at best and to be honest somewhat lacking. Hope I am not turning into one of those beer snobs but this was disappointing. Aromas of pale malts, wheat, some biscuit, and slight grapefruit and other citrus. Hop aromas were very weak and the sweetness is very muted . IPAs are obviously on the bitter end of the spectrum but Rebel had almost an astringent quality (not good).

Bottle from the LCBO. Golden-orange body, clear and bright, with a nice white head. Aroma is sweet - malt and sugar syrup - with citrus candy and floral notes. Flavour is similarly sweet - too much so for the style - with the hop characteristics coming across more as citrus and pine candy than the crisp and bitter notes I expect. Body is medium-full, and a bit sticky in the finish. All in all, a disappointment.

Pours clear dark gold with a small tan head. Aroma is faint, flowers, a little bready. Taste is bitter, a little citrus and flowers. Not a good IPA. With all the great IPAs out there, Sam Adams should sitck to something they do well (not sure what they do well these days).

pours cloudy yellow with cream fluffy head. Aroma of hay, grapefruit. Fizzy. Thin bodied, taste of grapefruit, hay, malt. Nice hop spiciness, smooth low bitterness, long finish.

[Bottle (355ml)] Pours an only slightly hazy golden-orange with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Some lacing. Aroma is bready along with a decent amount of resiny hops and a hint of vegetal notes. Flavour’s a bit sweet, hoppy and bready. Average bodied. Just good.

Bottle 355ml, a clear golden beer with low head. Nose is on quince and hop resin. Aroma is medium sweet, honey, hop resin, pine, blond caramel, medium bitterness. Medium bodied, toasted malt finish with hop resin, just ok.
