COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye Ale is the winner of our 2010 Beer Lover’s Choice® campaign. This deep reddish-hued ale has a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The slight roastiness and sweetness from the malt blend is complemented by pine and citrus notes from the combination of German and American hops. The defining ingredient in this ale, malted Rye, imparts additional complexity by delivering a spicy and slightly drying finish to this medium-bodied brew.

From a bottle poured a copper color with a nice head. Nice bitter hoppy flavor with a quick finish. Good not great...

2/02/2011: Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye Ale... Aroma: Subtle cara-rye malt and citrusy hops. Appearance: Elegant honey-amber color; nice off-white head and lots of sticky, ink blot lacing. Flavor: I like the pine and citrusy hops in the front, but then it has a weird sweet, cereal grain (corn) middle, weak spicy rye, and then it falls off drastically with just a little bit of citrus and bitterness in the finish. Palate: Medium-light; smooth; weak carbonation. Overall: Decent, but disappointing; it starts of nice but quickly fades away with a displeasing malt profile; sadly, the rye is mostly absent in the flavor.

Pint (draught) at Marty’s Hops & Vines in Cincinnati (College Hill), Ohio. Rating #228 for this beer.

Had on-tap at Palmer Place in LaGrange A: dark amber color with a slight filmy head on top, off white in color. S: A little spicy with big rye and little malt. Seems dry from the smell. T: Rye is pronounced as with the smell with some slight dry malt and a little back spice. M: Crisp and light with little body. Doesn’t coat the palette and goes down smooth. O: It’s alright. Seems like a decent fall beer, a little too dry for the Summer season Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-17-2011

Pours a burnt orange with a nice thick two finger head. Flavor is spicy with plenty of piney and grassy notes. A solid bitter bite to it complimented nicely by a long lasting spicy/rye finish. Aroma matches nicely with the flavor, there is an obvious spicy note from the rye but a light but present hop profile can be picked out. Mouthfeel leaves a nice dry spicy finish. A very enjoyable beer.

OK label, clear burnt orange beer with a fluffy head. Nice, malty/tangy aroma. Tangy, woody, moderately sweet, tannic bittering. Long rye-bitter aftertaste. Good mouthfeel. Part of a mixpack at the Friday meeting.

Pours orangish amber with a thin wispy tan head. Notes of resin, spicy toasted malt, sweet chewy caramel and bright hop resins. Medium bodied, lightly resinous with lush carbonation.

This beer was a let down. I expected so much more. I had such hop for this beer. It didn’t have to much flavor and was very light. It tasted like a light bad homebrew, that didnt have any flavor. It was a beer that I would never buy again.

12oz bottle - The best thing that I can say about this beer, is that it’s new. Nice to find a sampler pack with a new beer. Far from Sam Adams greatest beer, but drinkable just the same. Appearance is beautiful with a stunning copper colored body, 2" light tan head with nice retention. Aroma is really, really light in nature. Some pine, light tobacco, touch of brewed tea. Flavor has some light tannic pucker power, tea, piney hop and a hint of bread. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodied. Decenet beer from SA but nothing to rave about.
