COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Rustic Saison is an incredibly complex yet refreshing beer in the classic style of Belgian farmhouse ales. These blonde ales were traditionally brewed to quench the thirst of farmers throughout the summer months. The unique character of our brew comes from its Belgian yeast that imparts floral, fruity, and spicy flavors. These are layered with a slight earthiness and a citrusy, herbal hop character for a bright and satisfying summer brew.

Draft on tap at Binnys SL Taproom (Chicago, IL). Stopped in for some Le Terroir bottles from the Spring Sale. Pours a pale straw yellow, no haze, big cakey eggshell white head stays good sized and laces very well. Aromas are bready and fruity, wet bread dough, cereal grains mesh into fruity lemons and pears, some apple, bananas, touches of yeasty spice. Initial is light bodied, big shots of grain, bread, dough with touches of tart lemons, yeasty spice, estery pear and apple. Light bodied, fairly grain, bread, and light yeast forward. Touch dry finish, lingering bread and yeasty spice. A saison lacking complexity, with some ok flavors. Finish leaves lingering lemon cookies, bread dough. Ok. It’s not a bad beer, but as far as a Saison, it doesn’t feel right.

hopscotch (10563) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 12, 2011
Draft… Mostly clear, yellow ale with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Decent retention. The subtle nose offers light notes of fallen apricot, coriander and warm pale grains. Light-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor is thin and watery with a dash of coriander and a pinch of clove. Short, crisp, lightly spicy finish. Very refreshing, but I could have done without the spicy phenols.

Pours yellowish orange color. Smells sweetish. Taste has a mild spice to it but not very saisony to me at all. Pretty decent brew.

From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with the label notched at September 2011. The pour is yellow with a delicate upward bubbling carbonation. Banana, orange, and apple on the nose with a smooth yeast sensation. The body was lightweight. The taste had a sharp dryness feeling. Though it was generally on the mellow side.

redlight (2318) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 7, 2011
draft @ redlight redlight. Spicy floral nose with hints of citrus. Pours light golden blonde with a thick white head. Crisp and citrusy with an earthy flavor, nice bitterness with a very dry finish. Not too bad for 4%.

glennmastrange (2650) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 7, 2011
Tap. Light notes of grain, lemongrass and faint soap. Head is large fizzy, white with fair lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear gold. Flavor is moderately acidic to start, and finishes moderatley acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. A drinkable Saison, it just doesn’t go far enough into what the style should be like.
