Samuel Adams Rustic Saison is an incredibly complex yet refreshing beer in the classic style of Belgian farmhouse ales. These blonde ales were traditionally brewed to quench the thirst of farmers throughout the summer months. The unique character of our brew comes from its Belgian yeast that imparts floral, fruity, and spicy flavors. These are layered with a slight earthiness and a citrusy, herbal hop character for a bright and satisfying summer brew.

Thick, but seems false. Almost sour. Not bitter or sweet. Not a fan. Belgian style, emphasis on style. While itís not sugary, it could use less honey.

Pours a golden color with white head. Coriander, funk, spice, and light fruits on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a floral note.

Maybe the least remarkable Saison there is. This is what happens when a large brewer tries to make something for the masses that isnít very easy to make. A dumbed down version of a style that combines elegance and effervescence when completed well, i.e. Dupont and Hill Farmstead

On tap at TJs on 05/07/2011. Mostly clear golden body with a large frothy white head. Sweet spicy and lightly fruity aroma with some caramel. Dry spice, grainy and fruit flavor. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

(Backlog) Clear, orange peachy colored, with an ok off white head. The smell is perfume, light florals, lavender, and some wheat. Weaker in smell and taste than expected. The taste is rather bland for a saison, somewhat like a weak floral malt tea. Easy to dri

July 2011. Bottle. Middle of the road saison. Not good, not bad. Very drinkable and refreshing. Affordable if you just want to try the style.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma of malts, citrus, fruit and spicy yeast. Flavor was light malts, floral hops, citrus, spicy yeast a bit of honey and had a touch of spices with a dry and refreshing finish.

Bottle->SA glass. Light hazy gold with small white head. Aroma is herbs with some fruit and spice. Thin, not complex as a saison should be. That said, it is unoffensive and drinkable.

Not a bad effort by SA, but ad usual finihes dirty. Wheat/yeat funk aroma and light mouthfeel. Slight spice and generous carbonation. Just meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a goblet. A: A light hazy straw with a nice off white 1 finger head with solid retention. Leaves a nice sheet of lace down the glass. S: Slight yeasty smells rise up from this glass with a citrus peel back note. T: Iím getting the funky yeast from the nose with a more grassy backbone. Some slight citric esters are present as well. The taste is severely dominated by the yeast though. M: Light bodied with an oily bland taste left on the palate. Medium carbonation as well. O: I was disappointed with this brew. The taste was pretty bland and one dimensional. I really had to search around to find anything other than the funky yeast. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-10-2011
