I think this beer’s taste is better than its other attributes, but then I kind of like that peaty taste (in whiskey as well). I wish I could get just this and not only in a variety pack. Quite delightful.

Pours a dark cherry red from bottle into sensory glass. A thick, rocky head. Complex tastes throughout with a strong, long lasting finish. Its not my type of beer, but it is a very interesting drink. The taste gets better as the drink goes on, but its not something I would drink very often.

The smoky taste gives it that distinct tasty flavor. Average for a Scotch Ale, but one of the better products in the Sam Adams line.

The peat flavor in this is complimentary and well done. It also has the usual malty flavors of dried fruits, and it has a bit of syrup texture that gives it nice, but not overbearing, weight.

Good choice from the Sam Adams collection. Head isn’t very strong goes down about after the first sip. Dark brownish red little lighter than most Scottish Ale’s I’ve tried. The aroma is almost non-existent, however the flavor is very powerful. Strong malt flavor with a bit of stout undertone towards the end.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the bottle: deep amber color with moderate head, poured straight down the center. Rich, malty flavor with a scotch-like aftertaste. Has a slightly burnt taste and a malty smell.

Flavor too over-whelming. Nice dark-red amber color. Strong aroma and taste. Not refreshing or smooth. Spicy and smoky characters throughout this ale. Did not enjoy.
