2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - JUL 9, 2008
Pours a light color, slightly hazy, chardonnay like. Head is fizzily but not long lasting. Aroma is fresh, grassy, lemon and wheat. Taste is very mild, a little fresh cut grass and lemon floating in oatmeal soda water. Not my idea of a good time. I just realized I am disappointed by nearly every spring ale I drink.

One of my favorite BBC varietals and I was sad to see it shelved. It was clean and refreshing, perfect for the warmer days of spring. Here’s hoping they bring it back. Cheers!

A thin head and faint hoppy aroma are tipoffs to the weak flavor. Not much to recommend here.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 21, 2008
Pours a light golden color into the mug, with a light frothy head, nice little fruity aroma, bready malt background. I hate to be a style nazi, but this far pails in comparison to what a kolsch should taste like. It is very very light, and so far very few of their beers are really true to style.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 anthlovesbeer (67) - north grafton, Massachusetts, USA - APR 14, 2008
Replaced by the White Ale. Crisp and very refreshing just as the White. A nice balance of the hops and spices. Very good but vey shrt lives The Summer Ale is out before you know it (early April). No complaints here!

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2008 7/19/2004. Goden, light bodied ale topped by a medium white head with some lacing. Fruity aroma and flavor with only a little bit of hops mixed in. I was a little disappointed but it’s plenty refreshing to get the job done.

On tap, pours a cloudy blond with a decent white head. Nice herb and citrus aroma. The beer itself seems a little thin, but it is easily drinkable. Some citrus to the flavor, decent kolsch.

Pours a hazy pumpkin-amber with a white head. Active, fast carbonation. On the nose, a good amount of citrus (lemon and orange peel), mellow herbs, maybe some mint?, and some sweet spice (perhaps cinnamon?). Light-medium body with good carbonation makes it drinkable in nice weather. On the palate, refreshing citrus, and more exotic spice (coriander, black pepper) than on the nose.
Overall, quite a refreshing beer. Its complexity is clearly from cogeners rather than grain and hops, but it’s not too in-your-face artificial and overpowering. A nice beer for a summer day.

Tap at Dempseys: Golden with a dense white head. Nose has some rotted fruit skin notes with a marmalade sweetness. Velvety feel with a ripe apple, fruity sweetness followed by that typical Sam Adams grainy malt character. Pretty boring.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 daknole (7204) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 18, 2008
Well this beer should be better than it is. Cloudy and blond with a light colored head. Has some hints of lemon and a tart weird finish. Not the best of beers.
