COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

Typical wheat, lemon zest and grains of paradise very noticeable in taste and aroma, decent beer, nothing special.

On tap at CPK. Cloudy straw colored pour with an off white head. Wheat bouquet. Wheat, citrus, and bitter hop notes. A bit on the effervescent side. Below average body and mouthfeel.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was an off-colored golden body with a small white head that dissipated within seconds. The lacing was foamy and left no rings. This foamy lacing slid down the glass basically until the beer was done. The smell was a clean sort of citrus. Not much else going on. The taste was a sort of lemon and some slight honey, but was really barely noted. The palate was about a medium, smooth, sessionable, low carbonation was felt. Overall, I can see a lot of people would want this sitting on a beach somewhere in the summer. Me, however, well, I’m not sure if I’d seek it out on purpose.

Good aroma (citrus, hops, spices) and nice gold color. Tastes great, not to citrusi and not to dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Cloudy yellow gold with lots of active carbonation. Lemon and grainy wheat dominate the aroma and taste with a weird metallic aftertaste. I've had this many times over the years but, this one seems to be worse than I remember. Maybe I'd enjoy it more on a summer day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle poured into a tumbler glass. Cloudy gold, with a small white head. Floral nose, with spicy hops, citrus and faint honey notes. Peppery flavors, wheat, light fruitiness, low bitterness and faint marmalade. Light-med body, quite quenching, could be crispier, but overall OK.

Nice citrus wheat nose, and nice enough to look at with a golden haze when poured, but all in all, a pretty unremarkable beer... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A light beer. I was disappointed by this sam adams summer beer. From a bottle it smelled like cleaning supplies. A light lemon flavor.

Going on distant memory from last summer, just realized I hadn't rated this. Well this wheat ale is a good balanced example of the style, featuring straightforward wheat and lemon on the nose and throughout the taste, with some distinct peppery notes. Poured a cloudy yellow-orange, texture is full and grainy to match. Relatively flavorful, and finishes clean enough. I'm not much of a fan of wheat beers but this was enjoyable. Well-done.
