Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2016 120z bottle bbAUG2016. Bref: an industrially weak perversion of a thin spiked Belgian Wit just beneath Blue Moon in adjunct-laden radler-i-fication. - Ar: virtually none, spent banana peel starches and old sweet vanilla powder. Tastes like a low-fat yoghurt infused with artificial vanilla, slick and yet watery in mouthfeel. Lemon peel and the paradise grains must have evaporated, leaving an empty wheat peel of summer sadness and sad summeriness on banana-botoxed lips. Cf. Widmer Hefe for a parallel take on a German Weizen. #SadUSWheatAles

Very summery aroma but the taste is a bit too grapy or zesty for me. It leaves just a bitter taste and not enough fruitiness.

Keg at The Standard. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Good lacing. Aroma of orange pith, cigarette butt and white bread. Flavour of straw, apricot and a grassy, bitter finish. Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. Fruity but I feel it doesn’t quite gel.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - BBE Apr 17, from Alko, 20160625) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, fruitiness and lemonade. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, fruitiness, lemonade and mild bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet. A lemonade in a beer bottle. Not for me, thanks.
