Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

Drank out of bottle after long, hot summer day. Nose is of grain and a touch of citrus. Taste is simple - malt with a twist of lemon and maybe a drop of spice . Easy to drink . Decent summer beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favorite summer beers. Esp on draft with some seafood. Pours hazy orange with quickly dissolving head. Wheats and citrusy hop notes. Almost a peppery finish. A very good summer sipper

Bottle from a sampler. Pours a slightly hazy golden with thick cream colored head. Aroma of malts and grasses. Taste of mostly malts with s light hint of citrus.

Hmm... A wheat ale for the summer. Whoda thunk it? The body is a slightly hazy straw color and it is capped by a modest white head. Little lacework is present. The aroma is bready with a soft spiciness, presumably the grains of paradise. The flavor begins with a white bread dough taste followed quickly by said spices. A light citrus twist rounds it all out. It finishes on a lingering spicy note. This is certainly an easily drinkable brew and, although I doubt it will ever become a "go to" beer for me, I would not refuse another go at it.

Tastes like tonic water with a stale lemon. Not horrible ice cold but damn...not that good either.

At backyard party with only a red cup to use poured a pale yellow with a white head. Aroma was light and was lemon and wheat with a hint of spice but not impressive. The taste was pretty much the same. Pretty boring.

Pretty mediocre. See citrus on the nose. Lemon, honey flavors. Not much body; slightly tangy bitter aftertaste. Pretty typical Sam Adams offering.

16 fl oz bottle, bought in Cambridge, MA. Unclear pale yellow in the glass, small white head. Dull wheaty with on the nose. Starts with dusty citrus, flat on the palate. Later thinner. Not really enjoyable.

This is awful. It is fizzy and yellow, there’s no suds after about twenty seconds. This beer smells like dirty socks. It doesn’t taste much better than that, either. Take an average, mass produced American beer and filter it through your armpit, and you will have this. The label says there is lemon zest in this beer. I’ll take their word for it.
