COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

Pours cloudy from the bottle like a wheat ale, but more orange in color. There is very good lacing and head retention. Lemony aroma, but not too bad (I prefer to drink my wheats without fruit, but this was already in the aroma). Mouthfeel is very dry with a very clean finish. Very nice touch. The flavor is somewhat spicy, not really citrusy. What are "grains of paradise" anyway? I really liked this offering from Sam Adams.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Aromas like any other adjunct lager. On the palate some citrus is noticeable though. Clean, crisp and refreshing but boring.

Bottle: Poured a orangeish yellow with a fair white head. The aroma was faintly citrus but the flavor was spicy and fruity. Easy to drink with no bitterness nor aftertaste.

12 pour from refrigerated bottle into wheat glass. Clear, deep yellow, small head, a bit of lacing. Nose is weak. Fruity. A little orange. Mouthfeel is weak-to-moderate. Taste is an alright wheat. Taste is wheaty, orange, maybe coriander. Alright drinking beer.

I don’t get description. You gotta have a dogs nose to pick out any flavors described. Not a bad beer when it comes to process. But just ain’t nothing here.

I thought it was a nice, light, refreshing, easy drinking beer. It looked great and very inviting in the pilsner glass. Not much of a nose. The taste was a little watery. a nice overall beer, but nothing memorable about it.

4/2/15 (Draft - Finley Dunnes Chicago IL) Light brown, murky appearance, minimal carbonation and head. Minimal aroma and taste, malt and fruit present and balanced. Smooth taste. Standard beer.

Pretty hazy. Easy to drink, get the lemon and wheat mostly not much pepper but that’s probably a good thing. Easy enough to drink but for a wheat summer type of beer I’ll take a honey Weiss.

On tap at Iavarone, Long Island. Hazy rusty yellow with substantial white head and nice lacing. Aroma is sort of adjunct lager, bit of wheat and citrus, nothing substantial. Flavor is light wheat, fairly floury, sort of corn flavor. Light Nitro-like mouthfeel. Not gonna be a go-to summer beer.

A light wheat ale, that is easy to drink, only a slight yeast aroma and flavour.
