whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 9, 2007 Shimmering yellow body with a clean sudsy white head. Aroma of shredded wheat, corn syrup and lemon with some herbal highlights. Flavor is like weak lemon tea with medium sweetness and virtually no hop presence. Modest to insipid overall; this is clearly aimed to quench the pedestrian palate. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I can think of scores of summer beers that quench just as well, but are far more tantalizing. The palate and depth of character just don’t stand up with this one. Still, I can always stomach one of these (when I’m not buying) on a hot summer day.
RevZombie666 (14), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 7, 2008 Great stuff on tap, but I still can’t tell if they were going for a heffy flavor or something different. I’ve found this beer is best very cold, and in a cold mug or glass. grant (752), Martinez, California, USA Aug 7, 2008 Lightly hazy yellow, surprising amounts of head. Rather malty aroma, still with hints of orange and spicy hops. Lightly tart, grainy flavor with a loose smattering of yeast characteristics. Tasty and refreshing. Very little hops in finish, thickish and tongue coating. KnN (239), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Aug 6, 2008 A near perfect example of a great lawnmower beer. Crisp, refreshing, really nice to drink on a hot day. there’s nothing very challenging about this beer. Pours a pretty standard gold color, tastes a bit like a wheat beer, but not much. This would go perfectly with some hot salsa or guacamole. derekbang (93), Indiana, USA Aug 4, 2008 Yellow/golden pour from tap with moderate head that dissipated quickly. Farily thin and seem more like a lager to me. The wheat was not overpowering and as a whole the flavor was decent. As usual, it seemed to improve a bit as it warmed. OK. BeerVirgin72 (568), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Aug 3, 2008 Poured a very pretty golden orange color. Sweet aromas of wheat and oranges. I sipped this today while hanging out on my deck. Sun beating down. A very nice 82 degrees. Breeze lightly blowing. And me and my Sam Adams. Content. Flavor was lemon, orange and pepper. I liked the kick that the pepper added. This set this a part from all the overly watered down, bland summer beers I have tried. Say what you want, but I do beleive that Sam Adams makes consistent and very drinkable brews. This was a good summer ale.
