Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

Ap - Lemon Jolly Rancher color. Poured into a standard pint glass. Two finger head the dissipates quickly. Not much lacing. A tiny bit of haziness. Ar - Some floral hops in the nose. Spicy, but overwhelming smell is lemon. (Hey, the label warned me.) A tiny amount of banana-clove-yeast aroma as well. T - The taste follows the nose, lemon and spicy. Well balanced. It reminds me of some of the lighter Belgian ales. The taste does not fall evenly into any single category. The finish is clean and refreshing. P - Body is thin. Has a lager texture. O - Definitely drinkable, I bought a twelve-pack because it went so well with my chicken and pasta. I like what Sam Adams is trying to do here. Sam Adams is getting so big, however, that there seems to be an unwarranted bias against their offerings. This is a good beer. Different and not overdone.

It's ok for a summer ale, light fresh taste with some summer feeling to it. No real scent, color is ok, sort of like a cloudy orange. Tastes ok with a light summer taste and no aftertaste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours golden honey with a creamy ivory head. Appearance is quite pleasing. Aromas of lemon, citrus, wheat and malt. Taste is tinny metallic citrus with hints of white pepper and spices. It's ok. Probably goes down well on a hot summer day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful looking, but bland tasting beer. There is not much to taste here. This needs some kind of citrus taste to it and maybe unfiltered. It has potential, but the recipe needs to be tweaked, but I feel that way with a lot of the beers Sam Adams makes.

From a bottle, I drank two and that was plenty. Not quite, not even close. Not much malt, not much hop, it was like a soda.

Pours clear golden with a big puffy beige head, excellent retention. Aromas of spice, bread, lemon, grass. Light body, creamy, smooth, lively. Lightly sweet, mild tartness, light bitter and peppery finish. Very drinkable.

5.3% ABV. Wheat Ale. No head out of the tap. Color is a dark hazy honey, 6-8ºSRM. Nose is a full-bodied malt with florid wheaty flavors. Had a beautiful fresh nose that was inviting. Pronounced carbonation. Palate is full of witbier goodness, brief citrus brightness, giving way to the bold malt and then another brief hint of citrus peel in the finish and then it’s the next mouthful. Just like having a Blue Moon, Hoegaarden or a Kronenbourg Blanc. Nice.
