Samuel Adams® Summer Ale is an American wheat ale. This summer seasonal uses malted wheat, lemon zest and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body. The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean finishing beer perfect for those warm summer days.

Ap - Lemon Jolly Rancher color. Poured into a standard pint glass. Two finger head the dissipates quickly. Not much lacing. A tiny bit of haziness. Ar - Some floral hops in the nose. Spicy, but overwhelming smell is lemon. (Hey, the label warned me.) A tiny amount of banana-clove-yeast aroma as well. T - The taste follows the nose, lemon and spicy. Well balanced. It reminds me of some of the lighter Belgian ales. The taste does not fall evenly into any single category. The finish is clean and refreshing. P - Body is thin. Has a lager texture. O - Definitely drinkable, I bought a twelve-pack because it went so well with my chicken and pasta. I like what Sam Adams is trying to do here. Sam Adams is getting so big, however, that there seems to be an unwarranted bias against their offerings. This is a good beer. Different and not overdone.

From a flight on tap. Not a bad summer time ale. Bright and clean. Decent balanced wheat style. Good for the heat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favorite summer seasonals. Perhaps the citrus is a little much for some but on a hot sunny summer day it is very crisp and refreshing. -via BBapp

Bottle bought at Trader Joe’s, Foxborough, MA, in July, definitely a summer beer, clear citrus aroma but overall well balanced. Nice foam.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is lemon and spice, with the taste that follows with slight sweetness. Body is light which makes this an easy and refreshing beer to drink. Definitely a go-to lawn cutting beer.

On draft at a diner in Houston airport. Pours a hazy gold with no head. Aroma is of wheat, hops and a little citrus. Taste is OK. Oily mouth feel. Floral and citrussy taste. Quite hoppy with a bitter aftertaste

bottle. Poured hazy straw coloured with a thinning bleach white head. Nice malted wheat aroma. Light body with a creamy mouthfeel, finishes clean. Flavour of malted wheat with a breadiness that I wasn’t expecting, lemony citrus notes and a hint of pepper. A really nice session wheat.

Smell is faint wheat, malt, and dough. Pale yellow, with minimal white head. Taste is slightly sweet, malty and finishes with a slight bitterness. Light bodied, crisp, average carbonation. It’s alright but nothing really all that special.

Pours golden yellow from tap. Little head. No aroma. Taste is citrus and spice with some hops. Refreshing. Good as a summer style beer but doesn’t really do much interesting. A little rough carbonation.
