COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This wily red IPA gets its character from the Tasmanian hops that are full of grapefruit, pine and earthy notes creating a bold flavor that threads throughout the taste. The hops are balanced by a core of roasty malts that give this brew body and richness with hints of toffee. This flavorful brew is rounded and smooth with a dry and citrusy hop finish.

22oz bottle, Batch No. 1. Pours beautiful deep mahogany with a large eggshell head. Fantastic malt profile along with pine and grapefruit hops. Bitter yet very drinkable with a nice residual malt sweetness.

bottle @ Liquor Barn / Lexington KY --- Nice aroma of caramel malt and a little fruit. Hazy amber brown color, heavy beige head that never gets out of the way, clouds of lace. Taste is robust caramel malt that has a little fruit, riding medium fizz to a finish that mixes malt and hops. Much more understated hops than I anticipated, but still a remarkable brew.

Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready malty tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste

Deep Ruby color with a foamy tan head. As an IPA, you’d expect that pine/citrus hops would be the stars of the show, but they’re understudy to the rich lightly roasted malts. I’d swear this was a mild Stout or Porter by the scent. Sweet, doughy, yes, some toffee and lightly burnt toast with mild earthy hops giving a bitter follow. Has a smooth feel with light carbonation, I’d never guess this was an IPA in a blind tasting. Another solid offering from Boston Brewing!

Very dark amber brew with a tan head and smells of toffee. Taste is up front with toffee but then there is the citrus and herbal flavors that mess that up. Nope not a fan. Not sure why the fad right now is to take something that is NOT an IPA and try to make it one.

Bottle. Clear red ale with beige head and lacing. The aroma was roasted malt and some citrus. Flavor was grapefruit, toffee, caramel and a light pine. The finish was slightly bitter.

I appreciate that it's a unique IPA and has a unique hop with an intentional malt. However, it's just not that tasty/drinkable even though taste-filled. In a bottle in SoCal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A weirdly malty IPA, lots of grapefruit in the nose and something else I couldn’t quite pick out, very familiar and nostalgic. Good beer.

Hazy Dark Red Amber Color, Medium Head, Light Thin Lacing. Faint Floral Hop Aroma. Malt, Floral Hop, Moderate Bitter. Better Than Their Regular Lineup but not Really Up To Par With Good Little Guys. OK.

bottle. like the grumpy monk, and like most Sam Adams beers - pretty underwhelming. A macro trying to make a micro.
