COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This wily red IPA gets its character from the Tasmanian hops that are full of grapefruit, pine and earthy notes creating a bold flavor that threads throughout the taste. The hops are balanced by a core of roasty malts that give this brew body and richness with hints of toffee. This flavorful brew is rounded and smooth with a dry and citrusy hop finish.

Bottle @ SBWF’12

Pours dark reddish with a bubbly head. Aroma of fruity hops, hints of caramel malts, hints of fruity hops, citrus and pine. Finish is malty with hints of wood, caramel and citrus. Okay, quite balanced but generic amber IPA.

My bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry, jercraigs & mabel. Batch No. 2. Pours a deep ruby with an average size long-lasting fluffy tan head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is fruity and sweet along with light hops. Flavour of caramel malt, fruit and the Tasmanian hops, of which I don’t much care for. Medium bodied. I didn’t love this, it’s O.K.

Dark amber pour with nice tan head. Aroma starts with a nice pine hop but also has great roasted malt to balance it out. The flavor has a nice hoppy IPA taste but also has a great toffee malt finish. This is a really good unique offering of an IPA from Sam Adams.

This is also a good IPA. Nice rounded flavor. A bit piney and some bitterness like a grapefruit. Beautiful red color as well. Nice beer.

2013-05-24. Crisp dark red brown body modest beige head. 3++ Modest aroma, fruity, lightly tangy fruity aroma, muted hops. Flavour is mild, lightly fruity, very mild toffee and caramel. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Enjoyable but pretty mild overall. Bottle Shared by Blankboy

22oz bottle: pours clear mahogany, nice looking tan head. Nose is musty resinous hops, almost barleywine esque. Lots of caramel, bread and herbal hop notes on nose. A bit chewy palate. A reasonable, rich red IPA that isn't perfect by any means but it's drinkable if you're not expecting a big hop influence ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle shared by blankboy with me, jercraigs & mabel. Beautiful refractive clear red with a large fluffy tan head. Light resin/pine bitter aroma with some alcohol, but mostly sweet caramel. Tastes like a slightly stale wee heavy with generic bitterness. Slick, weak carbonation, sweet, slightly harsh finish. Ehhh. No thank.

Meh. Not a fan of this. It’s not a horrible beer, but not my cup of tea. First off I would not label this an IPA. Aroma was a smooth creamy caramel and sticky sweet malt. Had the aroma of a barley wine. Pour was a nice deep dark stagnant amber with a puffy one finger tan head. Taste was a malt bomb. Caramel, earth and toffee are the only flavors present. Honestly tastes like a sessionable barley wine without the hoppiness if that makes sense. Light carbonation. Would benefit from some hoppy flavor to balance out all the sweet sticky malt.

This is a really unique brew. Burnt dark cherry and a very slight oakiness paired with fermented apricot and bitter hops.

Reddish copper in color with a rich creamy tan head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit hops, caramel. Flavor is mostly sweet malt and lightly bitter. Pretty nice.

Good stuff. Deep hazy amber, tons of lacing in the creamy tan head. Aroma and flavors are a nice balanced mix of toffee and breaded malts, nice earthy hop finish drying out the mouth. Very nice beer!
