3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black pour with off white head that lasts for a while. Cocoa, Chinese spice, cinnamon, licorice. Smooth with nice balance of sweetness and spice. Finish is more complex and enjoyable than the initial aroma and taste. Not my favorite but a nice bottle

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Jet black, funny aroma. Spices and chocolate on the nose but a bit fertiliser-ish too. Lovely rich malty chocy base. Chilli there up front but recedes as it warms. Otherwise a nice, dark rich malt stout

Liked this a lot. Nice deep coffee color, thick and foamy head. Can pick out all sorts of toasty flavors of malt, tobacco, chocolate, coffee, toffee/caramel. The chili comes late to the party - few minutes after sipping you get a hit of chili - not overpowering, just enough to say hello.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown, off-white head. Licorice atoms. Mostly just tastes like licorice as well. Some chilli spice lingers prominently on the finish but its hard to find the "beerí in this one, or the. Chocolate for that matter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
March 21, 2012 with blankboy and garthicus. 12oz bottle c/o blankboy. Pours opaque ruby-black with a fairly large creamy/frothy tan head. Can certainly smell chilis and the chocolate, itís also a bit herbal, I donít detect 8+% alcohol though. Taste is quite nice, very little chili, mostly herbal chocolate, some alcohol, maybe a hint of crushed tomato greens (not nasty, just unusual). Thick, creamy mouthfeel, very mild carbonation, toasty chocolate malt up front with spicy/gritty earthiness in the finish - it really grew on me.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with a dense creamy beige head. Chocolate, coffee, and chilli aromas with similiar flavors. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation. The chilli flavor is subtle but there was a slight vegtable aftertaste.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Jet black pour into the glass with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, and cinnamon. Big malts on the palate. Drinks like a stout really. I get lots of nice cinnamon character too. The only thing Iím struggling to fin is the pepper character itís supposed to have. Iím not gonna dock too many points on that because this beer is still really tasty but not a lot of pepper going on here. Still, complex and interesting. Chocolate and spice. Worth a try no doubt.

Bottled, batch #1.
Pours a deep brown, with a brown head.
Rich, roasted aromas, malt, coffee, chocolate, quite spicy, nicely balanced note of chili.
Semi-sweet, full bodied, medium bitterness, creamy CO2.
Spicy, roasted taste, chocolate, cocoa, malt, coffee, tobacco, smoke, tar, spicy chili notes. Nicely balanced, but get a little to sweet in the finish.
