The Vixen is smooth and rich with an enticing touch of sweetness that ends with a spicy heat. For this unique brew we used carefully roasted malts and dark cocoa nibs for a full bodied and slightly sweet flavor. To this roasty and chocolaty base we added an element of warmth and spice with cinnamon and chilies. Dark and alluring, this brew will keep you captivated.

Liked this a lot. Nice deep coffee color, thick and foamy head. Can pick out all sorts of toasty flavors of malt, tobacco, chocolate, coffee, toffee/caramel. The chili comes late to the party - few minutes after sipping you get a hit of chili - not overpowering, just enough to say hello.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy with a frothy top light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The off-tasting mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mediumly tingly finish with a lingering malty aftertaste. The weird flavor contained notes of roasted malt licorice and malt. Not one that I would drink again.

Tailspin ale fest. Has a nice chili flavor and looks great. Only lacking in the aroma.

Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with thin tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma of fruity yeast, hints of chocolate, and cinnamon spice. Taste is more toward chocolate and spice, not chili to me, but still something there, nice balance, nothing over the top. Alcohol is well hidden, soft carbonation, not too bad.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, caramel, and peppers. Flavor of chocolate, toffee, cocoa, cinnamon, earthiness and had a spicy chili backbone.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a hint of ruby and violet tints when held up to the light, all with a rich, thick three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of chocolate, chiles (no surprise there), alcohol, metal and some rich roasted malt. Full-bodied; Strong rich roasted malt flavour with some nuts, earth, caramel, toffee and heat from the chiles noticeable, all with a sort of oaky, dry finish showing some alcohol and sweetness. Aftertaste shows a subtle and smooth complexity with spices, heat, alcohol, malt and the chocolate and coffee sweetness/bitterness that holds a nice complexity. Overall, a surprisingly nice beer with a ton of flavour, no overt heat or chiles, but a well-balanced and well-crafted beer - definitely worth trying if you can get it and it’s chilly outside! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 17-October-2014 for US$30,99/case (24-pack) sampled at home in Washington on 09-January-2015 in celebration of Boston being chosen as the US host city for the Olympic BID - good luck Boston - bring the Olympics back to the US of A.

Pours beautiful dark brown with a large light tan head. Aroma wheaty and spicy in a dark kinda way with a hint of cinnamon. Taste is smooth dark chocolatey malts blended perfectly with cinnamon throughout the flavor profile. At the very end there is faint chili pepper spice. Very easy to drink bock overall.

Oily black, dark taupe, stiff head. Lightly sweet, vanilla and light spice aroma. Tangy, bittersweet chocolate, light spicy notes. Mouthy but not viscous... oddly Styrofoam feeling...Lots of bulk but not weighty. Very slow burn. On tap, Brass Tap, Tallahassee Midtown.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2014 12 oz bottle served in a snifter. Date notched BB Feb. 2015 (?; no year indicated). Pours clear dark mahogany with a fine looking, creamy tan head that recedes too quickly. Aroma: sweet and a bit boozy, with hints of raisins, dates, cocoa, pancakes, burnt sugar and toffee. Flavor: Moderately complex with all of the ingrediants readily detectable. Mild but obvious chili presence. Sweet overall, and a bit too sweet up front, but it eventually works out to an acceptable bitter/sweet balance given the chili, chocolate and other flavors. Feel: smooth mouth feel; very good carbonation; full body with mild chili heat. O: a sweet but intriguing brew that’s certainly worth trying. Did not mix too well with the end of my dinner but worked great as an after meal sipper.

Bought in the mega 24 pack for 25 bucks. Dark pour with mocha head. Smell is roast, cocoa and sweet cinnamon sugar. Taste is similar but shows the mild pepper comes thru with a bigger cinnamon component. Quite nice and one of the better SA brews I’ve had in a while.
