3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A smooth fruity/floral golden Double IPA
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed fresh the day of purchase.
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a medium beige head with good retention
In long: Nose is nice scented flowery hops and scented wood (pine-tree, cedar), this is almost like smelling a bouquet of flowers laid over freshly cut wood. Taste has chewy soft bready malts, a baguette dipped in smooth honey. The hopping is generous but never aggressive. A lot of flowers, some notes of fresh green grass, some pine tree, a bit of lemony tartness to make it more refreshing, also light notes of green apples. Bitterness level is medium at most and not really resinous. No alcohol presence. This is quite easy to drink for a 8% Double IPA. With it aromatic character and non-aggressive bitterness it almost feels like a girly Double IPA. Enjoyable and easy to drink, I could session a 8% beer like this, until I’m totally drunk… again. But just so you know, from the outside I may look like a pathetic drunk but deep down inside I am a lot more than that, I am also a pervert.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Picked this up in a trade. Batch No. 1 and poured into a pint glass at cellar temperature.
A - 3-Finger head, deep golden to golden brown appearance with tons of bubbles. Looks a lot like a brown sparkling water.
S - Tons of piney and grapefruit. Standard DIPA scent and the cascade hops have this resinous scent that’s so classic to cascade hopped IPAs. Smells terrific.
T - Intense citrus and pine roll over my tongue and leave tingling affects. It’s pretty great how the taste travels across the palette. When that’s done, super sweet honey and cane syrup come by to pick up the slack.
M - Medium bodied, 90% carbonation on a mouth swish. Linger is a lot of resin and astringency from the hops.
O - This is a great IPA. I didn’t think Sam Adams had it in them but this is on par with the standard east coast IPA.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample at a Samuel Adams tasting at my place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Pours clear brown, foamy white head. Dry pine and grapefruit aroma. Bery bitter with just a hint of sweet. Dry finish, light body, soft carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
650 mL bottle. Poured hazy copper with off-white head that left rings of lace. Flavor dominated by sweet caramel malts. Piney notes. Even some raisin noticeable. Medium to full bodied. Decent, well rounded offering. Just not my style of IIPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample at a Samuel Adams tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Deep red-amber color with a big off-white head. Hoppy aroma of grapefruit, resinous and piney notes. Flavor has some malt sweetness with honey notes, but mostly lots of hop bitterness, somewhat resinous and grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Light copper color with a bit of a haze to it. Tan fluffy head. Not as nice of an aroma as I'd hopped, er hoped. Upfront bitter with bitter swallow. I like it. It has a unrecognizable taste in the swallow. Nice beer for an evening in or while home brewing.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours an average amber with a nose of malted pine and grapefruit. Flavor is run-of-the-mill malted grapefruit and orange peel. Average mouthfeel. Worst of the series.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled on 3/15/2012. This double IPA pours a deep copper red color from a 22oz bottle. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and sweet, citrusy and grapefruity. A medium bodied double IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet, with some cookie and orange. The hops are grapefruity, citrusy and piney. Decent carbonation. Medium to high bitterness IPA. The hops bitterness really has some staying power. This beer is sweet at the start, with a whole lot of bitterness in the middle with some sweetness and bitterness at the finish. Nice IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a snifter, a honey/amber color, with an off white head. Lots of sticky lace. Aroma is strong pine resin and grapefruit, balanced with a hint of caramel sweetness. Strong grapefruit hop flavor up front fading to a more mellow floral hop in the middle with a sweet biscuit flavor towards the end. Finishes bitter. Full, creamy palate. More of SA brews need to be this flavorful. This was pretty good.

From the bottle. Slight hop aroma, I would expect more from a double ipa.
Hop bitterness on the palette, sweet malt body, some booze comes through with a lingering bitter finish, not bad but would like to taste and smell more hops in this
